Also 1995 Select Artists Proofs with an assumed print run of 238.

It's actually twice that: 475.

Stated case run: 4950, 24-box, cases
Stated insertion ratio: 1:24 (one-per-box)
Set size: 250

4950 * 24 / 250 = 475.2

241 is one of many suggest 1993 refractor print runs, no hard numbers ever given.

Assuming that the Refractors for all 199 cards were, in fact, printed in equal quantities, then the production run was 241 copies.

Stated Case Run: 4000, 12-box cases
Insertion Ratio: 1:18 (one-per-box)

4000 * 12 / 199 = 241.21

Also, IIRC, the stated production run on the '96 Leaf Preferred Press Proofs (Golds) was 500 copies each.

By those numbers, that means 41 boxes ended up without a refractor. Could you imagine buying a box today for whatever ridiculous price they sell for and NOT getting a refractor.

On the other end of the spectrum, I guess it is possible some players have 242 refractors, thus making the odds correct and 1 refractor per box. The world will never know.

FWIW, I remember some guy pulling 2 Refractors out of a '93 Finest waxbox. Keep in mind, this was back in 1993.

Also, the set was originally 198 cards (they added the Piazza late). 4000 * 12 / 198 = 242.42

re: 1993 refractors.

The above math is correct but one should not assume the insert ratio or even the case production run. 241 has always been a good starting point but 300+/- is not out of the question.

did anyone mention these guys:

'96 Select parallels (mirror red, blue, gold, artists proof)
'97 bowmans best atomic
'98 tek diffractors (though I don't think anybody ever agreed on the print run here)

there's a bunch of pacific parallels (silver, light blue, etc) that don't have them as well. Don't know any off the top of my head but I can look them up if you'd like

I don't believe this to be correct even though I know its supposed to be the actual run. Seen way too many of these.

You may have seen the Limited Exposure cards for the other three subsets (Counterparts, Double Team and Unlimited). The Counterparts are, by far, the easiest to find. Star Factor is the only subset that has one player on each card. Each of the other three have two players -- one on the front and one on the back.

FWIW, I saw a TON of the base Star Factors (the ones supposedly limited to 1100 copies) at The National for a nickel each.

a few made it out in the donruss sell-off as well so the original count was 40 but now it's unknown, most people I know guess it's up to maybe 44-45 (10% replacement)

What was the production of these '97 bowmans best atomic? Or were you referring to the jumbo version?

Does anybody have a guesstimate on the print runs of the 1997 Bowman's Best Mirror Image Inverts; Reg, Ref, and Atomic or the 1997 Finest Embossed Silver and Gold Refs?

I have the Star Factor and recall seeing a good handful coming from Wolverine on ebay a while back. In fact I saw so dang many different LE versions of all of the subsets I started wondering if these were backdoored.

One question is this a Class three?

I can't tell. You need the other regular versions of class 1, 2, and 3 to match it up to. Beckett says that in class 1, 2, and 3...each color...black, gold, and red, have a 1/1. So supposedly there are 9 1/1's in that set for each player. A black, red, and gold 1/1 for class one. Same for class 2 and class three. Seeing that card makes me think you might have the other base versions. Might want to hunt them down and check it out to match the pics up.

I'm pretty sure that is a class 2. According to beckett, the Class 2 cards have "Sparkling Silver" text on the front. And for Class 3 it is "Sparkling Gold".
