Thanks guys.

George...same guy who has the 1997 Donruss Preferred set has the 1997 Finest complete to #350. So there's Silver and Gold non-embossed? Or are all silver and gold embossed?

This is confusing

There is a "regular" set, that would include Bronze, Silver, and Gold; these come in refractor and non-refractor. The Embossed are an "insert" and not considered part of any complete set. However, some set collectors have tried for all variation for a Master Set.

Ok...I looked over all the cards and didn't find any embossed. So it's the regular set then.

For all I know it's been sitting in the binder for yrs and it's in beautiful condition.

Anyone see this?

$300 sounds like a pretty good price to me, considering Ripken sold for around 850ish and the Will Clark went for over a thousand.

No, it's not a good deal because Chipper Jones collectors aren't on the level of Ripken or Clark. A legit PSA 10 Red Crusade of Jones barely broke $250, so $300 for a raw is vastly overpriced, at least in the current market.

What's up with the Griffey not having the MVP stamp?

I was wondering that too. On the back it says, "No subset or insert cards will be included as MVPC. The player on each card is clearly stamped as an MVP". I was hoping you guys could shed some light on why this one doesn't have the stamp. I got it years ago in a $1 box at a show.

I've seen a few of the those multi player MVP Promotion cards and rarely do they have the MVP stamp on the front (dual-rookies, etc). Someone had a Matt Holliday dual RC with the same issue on here. Definitely rare, but not sure if all 100 are made like the regular MVP Promotion cards. Might be considered an error card, but there are definitely more than just 1 out there. Great buy though! Gonzalez and Griffey fans alone would push that up to crazy levels if listed online. Is it for sale??

Edited:

Here is a link to a FCB topic with another one of the tri cards with same issue. Probably just the way they were released.

Sweet! Thanks for the info. Not really in the market to sell. It's part of my small and neglected Griffey collection.

I was wondering what PG do you find bv on '90's sets? Just the regular Beckett or the annuals?

Well, the price guide and book value mean very little when it comes to 90's inserts and parallels, so you can pretty much throw it out the window, but if you are looking for information on who is in the set and who is not, the annuals are the way to go, since the complete checklist is included. But, as a "guide", Beckett is still the way to go.

On this topic, I haven't been able to find odds listed on beckett's site. Are they there or are they just in the annual guides?
