1997 Score Reserve Collection Bernie Williams Goin' Yard - got this for my set

You know what this is - hit a $33 BIN thinking I could flip it only to find out that's market value. Oh well.

Really makes me wonder how Burbank gets a hold of all their rare cards.

We've discussed Burbank in length before but I believe they just have some massive massive '90s collection they aquired years ago and have just been unloading it? I could be WAY off but do they even get into new product, etc.? God knows they had one hell of a Belle collection years ago... key word "had" ;)

Nice pick-up! Do you have many other players? I think it would be a cool thread to see if FCB had the complete set of the green, purple and red if you were to combine the board's collection? I bet we do.

I must have missed that discussion. They do have new product. I attempted to make a deal with them a few days ago for a "newer" card but it didn't work out. They don't budge much even though their cards are ridiculously over priced. That's how they make their money though, people are willing to pay outrageous amounts for certain cards.

He did give me 20% off one time, but only when I agreed to spend like $600 on a bunch Larkin's I needed. It was an awesome mailday though:)

Must be nice to spend that much at once. I think I'd feel guilty lol

I bet that mail day was a lot of fun

I bet they have a really good CMS system for their sales because I feel like Stephen and I know each other by name at this point. I've essentially chipped away at their Belle collection (the ones I don't have) and usually if I contact directly, they'll work with me on price but no more than 10-20%, if that. Again, I do have a history of payment with them and have spent a pretty pennie, so I'm sure he doesn't mind giving me a little when I ask.

Otherwise, I find that their pricing has NO pattern what so ever. Sometimes you see a card you need and it is like a huge multiple more than what it will ever sell for. Other times, you just get a steal. For example, this card was like $60, which was a steal in my book...

This is also a gem IMO that I got from Burbank a long time ago... I think it was like $18 lol... Steal in my book and a huge card I was SO happy to track down and cross off my list...

Nice card. I agree with the pricing. When I was chipping away at their Caminiti cards, I'd notice cards that were #'d lower would be cheaper than others. I guess you have to take into account that some cards are more collectable to set collectors.

I think us player collectors forget that there are a lot of set collectors out there that jack the price up on certain cards.

I AM SO GLAD they don't have any Caminiti cards I don't have now. I do purchase other Padres cards from there from time to time but I won't over spend like I did for Caminiti.

Number 1 card on my wantlist was just listed on ebay. Wish I had the means to finally cross it off my list.
