How close to the sets are you? I always liked those cards.

Those 97 Finest Gold sets were crazy, I had a bid on the Ripken lot that didn't even register. Expected $600-$700 and it went double, way too high IMO.

Agreed, for Alex's post-baseball career he should consider acting, he is a ready-made villain. Just like Jon Hamm (Don Draper from Mad Men) can do voice overs for advertisements for the rest of his life, Alex would make a great villain!

Wow, thanks for that. Didn't realize it would be like that in re Cut Above . Explains why I haven't had a taker yet on my Arod Destination Cooperstown.

The A-Rod hating needs to find its way to another thread. At the latest, it's 1999 and Rodriguez is King.

This one is exceedingly sweet and rare for the Chipper Jones collector, not sure how the rest of the world feels about it:

Thought I just had a misc collection of Chippers coming in, saw this in the scan and figured it was the $4 regular version and didn't think anything of it. I figure it can probably fetch about $200 if I ever decide to let it go. A fun, unexpected find!

Question, for those with 1996 Certified Mirror Red/Blues/Golds , anyone happen to have one with peel and one wo. Any real difference from the "pop" of the Mirror? Curious if its worth both versions or not?

Not an expert but it may depend on how well the peel has held up over time. Many have small bubbles now.

This one is sharp and still has the peel - it also got a gem BGS 9.5 grade :)

If I had to choose 1, I want the peel, debating if I ever want to chase doubles to have no peel. I agree with the small bubbles, but I prefer that with the peel than wo peel, but wondering if I want both... Such expensive cards, not sure it's worth it.

***Great Pedro though! My Clark gold is a PSA 9, doubt I'll ever upgrade
