Finally was able to finish off this trifecta:

congrats! the lofton gold went for $50 and i couldnt afford it at the time...thats the only one i need

Good God! $50? Jeez. Now I am glad I collect Bags. I'm sure in a week I will revert again but dang. $50 is a lot for any Loften card IMO. He must have some hardcore collectors. And I'll admit I don't know about the market for his stuff either.

I got lucky I have all three. I found the bronze and have a couple. The Gold came next and was surprisingly cheap. I won it an auction. I finally tracked down the silver. It proved to be a little harder to find. I wonder if most people have problems with the silver more so than the gold?

my guess was a set collector because i know the few other lofton collectors (4 of us) and they werent in on the bidding

This is a pretty sweet little set. I bought a lot of maybe 6 boxes of the Walmart? or whatever special boxes the diamond destinies came in...pulled all bronzes and only one or maybe two silvers. I was able to finish off the bronze set pretty easily, and started on the silver and gold. Didn't get too far as the card descriptions (ebay and elsewhere) were so often incorrect and impossible to tell the bronze from the gold on most pics posted. Then some big prices started hitting on the silvers and golds and my cheap little project stalled out.

descott I have a gold [strike:2zsbd07n]Lofton[/strike:2zsbd07n] that's yours if you want it. I'll send you a PM.

I also have silver: McGriff, Ripken, Alomar, [strike:2zsbd07n]Frank Thomas[/strike:2zsbd07n], Piazza.
Gold: Smoltz, Bichette, Sheffield, Randy Johnson, [strike:2zsbd07n]A-rod[/strike:2zsbd07n].

How tough are the golds?

I think they were 1 gold set per case of regular sets.. and you only knew by opening them because the boxes are the same for both sets. They show up every now and then but if your guy is up best to jump on it and lock it down. I bought a whole set of these 2 years ago to get my guy and sold every big player for more than double this guys asking prices. I have only seen 1 copy of my guy since so that is a good example of how long it takes for these to get listed.

guess that was enough explaination for the bin to be hit on the Maddux.. leave it to the influence of the 90's threads!!!

PS: there is a 1995 score rules jumbo maddux up for a nice price too..

I got a few PMs on the silver and gold diamond destinies...I also have the following extra bronzes (looking at my dups reminded how horrible the collation was on these, the DD players would go in the same order/pattern as you opened them):
Anyway bronze card #'s: 40 x2, 38 x2, 37 x2, 30 x3, 29 x3, 26 x2, 24 x2, 20 x3, 11 x2, 9 x2, 7 x2, 4, 3, 1.
