Have a question on this 99 Topps "promo" Thome:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

Anyone know anything about this? Haven't seen one before, curious what a decent buy point would be...

Thanks as always.

Very tough card

The MVP promotion cards were limited to a print run of 100, inserted in Topps packs. Card back has contest rules and redemption form. If the player on the front won the AL or NL MVP award, the card was redeemable for a prize. Topps did this promotion both in 1999 and 2000.

Those cards are so hard to find it's not even fair. I'm at the point of deleting them from my want list spreadsheets because it's possible that I'll never stumble upon anyone I collect. COMC has 6 scrubs and a 99 Vlad Guerrero for $25 (which is probably a good price given the rarity of these). If I had the cash I would buy a case or two of 99 or 2000 Topps and hope to pull a few.

If that's what they look like then I'd have to say no...no they're not.

Of all their sets, Panini chose to put these in one called "Elite Black." That kinda limited their possible color palate. These would have been ideal inserts for the ultra-shiny "Gold Standard" set which was just released. I am curious to see how they turn out.

Anyway, back to baseball...

Got this 90s coin in the mail today. I already had the Blank, now I was finally able to fill it. The back of this coin says 1 of 500. Doesnt it seem strange to number the brass coin?

The 1999 & the 2000 MVP set had an actual card redemption if your player was voted as an MVP during one of the weeks during the season..Here is what the 99 exchange looked like.. Good luck finding one of these...........
