But what Score does right in this second series is release a terribly named parallel called Reserve Collection which were seeded 1:11 packs. These are obviously different - they are foil etched and on the back you can see RC-ReserveCollection in the background. They'll take an eye out. Someone throw in a scan :mrgreen:

Hobby reserve can "mostly" be deciphered by the HSR in gold lettering-- stands for "Hobby Reserve by Score",,,,,,

Premium Stock has 2 large letters PS on them,,,,,

And subsets? Cripes,,,, just look at the backs,,,,

Key is to decipher the FRONT first,,,,

Then look at the back,,, will decipher subsets,,,, showcase series, reserve collection, etc, etc, etc,,,,,,,

Thanks to Nosterbor for the heads up on this from COMC...I don't even know how he came across it. The regular version does not have the hat brim poking out...this version has the hat.

Oh please don't tell me there are variations on these goofy looking cards! Die-cutting the face was one of the worst ways Fleer could have made those cards, and every single one I've ever owned looks awkward and/or creepy.

Rebuilding my Konerko Dodgers collection lately, some of this is new stuff, some old and some are things that didn't sell that I am now grateful they didn't:

My only really Super Sweet Dodgers Konerkos are a Green Crusade from 1998 Leaf R&S and a 1998 Bowman's Best auto. There's several dozen Dodgers Konerkos on COMC that I intend to add to the collection soon!

Here is the way I have always understood it:

Premium Stock (1st series)

Premium Stock (2nd series) even though it says Hobby Reserve on the front

Hobby Reserve (HR prefix)

Here is what Beckett says about Premium Stock, not that they are always right:

A special Premium Stock version of the base series one set was produced exclusively for hobby outlets. The cards parallel the regular issue set except for a grey border, thicker card stock and a prominent gold foil "Premium Stock" logo on front. The cards were distributed in Premium Stock hobby packs. Second series Premium Stock cards were called "Hobby Reserve."

In other words, some base Score Hobby Reserve have two variations - one with HR prefix and one without.

If I'm not mistaken, his first scan (the one labeled "Premium Stock (2nd series) even though it says Hobby Reserve on the front") does not have the HR in the numbering, which would be the same card you linked.

Anyone know where the silver foil cards came from and how diffuicult are they to obtain? (All three cards numbered 184 on back)

Sold a 1996 Pinnacle Team Spirit Greg Maddux on COMC, and used that credit to buy this one! Got it for a shade under $3!

Is it just me or does Beckett have the 1997 Score Reserve Collection pricing ass backwards? For example, they are saying that the Hobby Reserve (white border w/ gold stamp) Fred McGriff Goin Yard is worth $5, but that the Reserve Collection (etched foil 1:11 packs parallel) is only worth $2.50?

How rare are the Hobby Reserves? I opened a box of Score at K-Mart back in the day, and almost every card was a Hobby Reserve.

So here's the deal. In 1997 Score comes out with Score Premium Stock to mirror the Score Series I release. It looks like the normal base Score cards, only thicker stock and has a Premium Stock stamp on it. Everything else about them look the same.

Inexplicably, Score renames them Hobby Reserve when they release the Series II version. So there's confusion because Score renames the Series II premium release, then includes a parallel that didn't exist in the Series I release and names it too similarly to this newly named Series II premium release. Got it?

I'm wondering how clarkfan and jaderock got all theirs. I wonder if they figured out this confusion early and were able to capitalize.

Despite being 1:11 packs, they are really hard to find for some reason. Not sure if there wasn't a ton made, if not a lot was opened because it was a Series II release, or what. While there were plenty of duds in Series II, there were some cool subsets like Goin Yard and Rock & Fire. They are undervalued by Beckett.
