Wot? LOL His scan right there in your post shows an HR-prefixed number. If you go to the link it shows the exact same card only with no HR prefix.

He showed the front of one card and the back of another. They're different cards.

This is correct.

Guys, guys... LOL. Just go to the first link I sent out - the link to the five Chipper Jones Goin Yard cards on COMC and you'll see five identical card fronts with two numbering variations. I'll make it easy:

http://www.checkoutmycards.com/Card..._Hobby_Reserve/HR509/Chipper_Jones_GY/4278118

Not sure what you don't get....all the second premium series was erroneously labeled as hobby reserve (on the front). This is why the some cards have HRXXX for a number and others are just regular number.

Also, Beckett and COMC are not really up to date on what cards should be called....I've found 10-20 Andruw's mis-labeled.

I don't think it was an error. I think they intentionally changed the name from Premium Stock to Hobby Reserve because the cards are of a different stock. According to baseballcardpedia, the Premium Stock is a thicker stock than Hobby Reserve. And while Hobby Reserve is still thicker than your normal Score base, they felt compelled to change the name.

Anyway, none of this matters, EXCEPT to player collectors. You may need to get two numbering versions of the Hobby Reserve base cards of your player.

And who knows? Maybe the Reserve Collection has two numbering versions as well! Those things are tough enough to find as it is! We should probably ask jaderock to take a look and see if all his Reserve Collections have the HR numbering.

I've opened 27 boxes of the Series 2 Hobby Reseve Score cards. None of the "Reserve Collection" foil parallels have numbers other than HR-something. They always have HR in front of the card numbers, at least from what I've seen, but they are still very hard to find. I still need the Will Clark and would offer up $100 to anyone that can locate one for me. In these boxes, the majority of base cards have a just a regular card number. There are variations/errors though with the HR number present on the regular base cards, but I really think that was just a mistake on Score's part, basically numbering their base cards with the same number as those hard to find Reserve Collection parallels. Premium Stock, as others have mentioned above is a completely separate product entirely from HOBBY RESERVE. But I can tell you first hand from someone that busted a ton of that product, Hobby Reserve base cards have 2 variations with the rarer version being the one with the HR in front of the card number. Throw in Showcase parallels, Artist Proof parallels (white and foil), and the Reserve Collection parallels (only in the Series 2 Hobby Reserve packs), you have quite a confusing set and a pain for player collector's to not only know of all the variations of their player, but locating them too.

Oh man, this is getting difficult. Here's what I thought were my options for 1997 Score:

Base
Premium Stock/Hobby Reserve by Score (I thought PS = Series 1, HRbS = Series 2)
Hobby Reserve Collection (the HR #'ed cards from Series 2)
Showcase
Showcase Artist's Proofs
White Border Artist's Proofs (Series 1 only)

What exactly else am I missing?

You pretty much got it down. Only one I see that your are missing is the base card variation from Series 2 Hobby Reserve (the HR one and the regular one). Front of card looks identical.

Anyone know where the silver foil cards came from and how diffuicult are they to obtain? (All three cards numbered 184 on back)

1996 Fleer - Silver Foil, Gold Foil, Tiffany
Inserts08-07-11001.jpg

Ah - you have the same thing I do.. the interesting silver variant (middle pic below). There is also a Tiffany version gold variant. (wish I would've saved the scan of that one, arrrggh!). I have only come across the silver version 3 times at most and the tiffany gold letters once. I believe they were simply cards that missed the process of going through the Tiffany coating and the golds were a sheet that DID get the coating and should not have (my working theory).

True True!!! For some players, there is 3 more cards, but only a select few teams. Team Collection, Platinum Team, and Premier Club

We are unfortunately one of those people RustyGreerFan. I still need the Premier Club. You have Greer in that yet?

Recently dug this out of an old box of variations I had stashed in my old hometown (on ebay now). I love the look of these cheap parallels, but the 'partial variation' aspect makes me love them even more :

Nice silver.

Nope, I just have the Platinum Team:

Interesting how these vary so greatly in availability on the market. It's as if every single pack of Dodgers got opened and is available. But like you said, we can't find our Rangers.

Well, if you ever find any boxes, let me know. I'll gladly split the cost, no matter how many boxes, and I'm pretty sure we could convice Nosterbor to join us. He still needs the Juan I think.

Ok, enuff about Score ;)

Some fun ones in the mail this weekend all from Sportlots:

$2.50 - going for set, but not looking forward to acquiring McGwire
BagwellGJAP.jpg

Got the next three for $10 - I remember when these came out they looked fantastic, but I didn't even buy a pack. Seems like it was base and gold and that's about it - I wanted inserts. Scans look filthy, but that's mostly dust:

I remember these have major scratch issues, but this one looks great in person
FrankLLGold.jpg

This was the gem of the lot. I assumed it had been there awhile and wondered why it was still not taken - then I realized the listing said Edgar Matinez. I was searching by set -not player. Great photo.

OK, I lied :P Here's the only Reserve Collection I have. Got it out of a pack at my LCS when it came out. Interesting on the back it says he hit the first HR in Coors Field history(?)

Hey guys, just wondering how difficult are finding these promo cards? Thanks for any help.

Inserts08-06-11001.jpg

I'm really confused about this card. Just a couple of weeks ago I bought a similiar ARod that has "SAMPLE" written across it. I have never seen one or even knew they existed until then. Now you have posted a Jeter with a gray border and "The Big Picture" written on the bottom. Do you have a different version without the border? My regular and Sample versions of ARod do not have this. I'm at work and going on memory right now but will confirm later.

Here's the ARod I won.

Here is one I don't know the difference of and Beckett.com doesn't seem to describe well at all between the three:

1) 1998 Stadium Club Triumvirate Luminous
2) 1998 Stadium Club Triumvirate Luminescent
3) 1998 Stadium Club Triumvirate Illuminator

They're very easy once you know what to look for.

Illuminator is on left side of both scans, luminescent on the right.

Yea I figured, thanks. I think I understand what it is I'm in the hunt for. Especially with AndruwHRJones scans. Thanks guys, let's see how long this one takes to complete :benson:
