I have started the hunt for the Season Stats Bagwell card... Thus far I have found 4 cards mixed in some lots on ebay, and after contacting the sellers gotten 2 replies saying its not the one I need...

I feel my OCD has kicked in as this card is now my main goal. This is fun!

Shouldn't be too hard to locate the one you need. There are 109 of them listed on the beckett marketplace and 43 listed on sportlots. I am sure out of those 150 plus there is a season stats included. Just a matter of contacting the sellers and asking them to look.

Oh my god, those Biggios are amazing! Reminds me of seeing boobs for the first time as a teenager!

I was organizing tonight and saw these in my collections. They might be my favorites, so I felt the need to scan and show off. Not sure why the scanner didn't make them "pop" like usual.

There was a McGwire and a Jeter '97 Mirror Image inverted listed on COMC yesterday, but they are a little pricey.

Yup, but they are listed as regular cards, not inverted.

Was wondering what everyone's opinion is on this. I was looking through some 1994 Leaf Limited golds and noticed on the back some were printed in holographic foil and some in gold foil. Do you consider this a variation? Here's an example I pulled off of COMC. I have seen this in more than half of the cards.

I would say you need to see them in person before making a decision. While I tend to agree they are probably different and a variation, you never know what kind of tricks a scanner plays on the surface of a card.

90s experts...need some advice.

I stopped collecting/with baseball cold turkey in 1994 after the strike (*other than playoffs to see the braves and maddux finally win the series) didn't touch any of it again till about 2 1/2 years ago... been back into the hobby now for around 1 1/2 years I'd say...mostly just focus on 90s maddux stuff with a few modern guys FY cards and a nice PC of Jonny Venters...

lately with a lack of Venters left to find (other than duplicates of low numbered stuff and building a stash of FY/RCs) been focusing more on the Maddux stuff again.

we had our daughter born on April 1st, so the wife and I were a bit more strapped for cash than we'd like for a few months since we wanted to wait out her returning to work to enjoy the first 4-5 months without having to juggle a work schedule for her... now that she has returned to work and money is flowing in again she wants me to pick up something I never did buy growing up...a greg maddux auto. I'm not much into certified IP/TTM autos... and I pretty much only buy/like 90s cards... I know pack issued/redemption issued autos in the 90s were pretty few and far between. have found a couple donruss and leaf issues that I like of his..although none currently up on ebay... so i guess my question is....

if you had between $70-100 (+/- could go more depending on what it is) and had to choose between a 90s auto or alternately perhaps 2-3 nicer high end inserts from that time frame... what would you choose? any ideas what cards I should avoid (IE: known for bankrupcy/backdoor with fake signatures/etc) I guess knowing that pricerange 70-100 if you had to make some recommendations on stuff to look for. what would you advise?

some stuff I know I want that I haven't picked up yet are the 97/98 essential credentials, I don't have any of the crusades variations, mirror golds/blues/reds/etcetc I pretty much only have one BV$50 card of his from that timeframe.

also if you have any nice maddux stuff from that era that is for sale, feel free to drop me a line with what you have/price you are looking for. its not often I get told "find a nice card and make it a nice one" without having to jump through hoops haha

edit to add: here is an example of the maddux I like...I just know nothing about this era, and I'm extremely hesitant trusting anything I don't know a ton about when it relates to cards and on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/GREG-MADDUX...0764463008?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item1c1e1f77a0

I have heard you guys talk about Burbank before. Whats his site?

And Rivera - I'd go Auto. Take your time and find one that is beautiful. A nice card, a nice signature. And if you are worried about fakes, spring for a graded one. I'm sure there are guys here that have em in their stashes. Maybe they will bring em out for your request.

Some sweet inserts being posted since I was last on last week!!!

Real quick, can anyone shed some light on the difference between the 1998 Pinnacle Plus Team Pinnacle set, difference between Gold and Mirror? Seems obvious considering the Mirror is #/25 (per beckett) but not sure if it is actually serial numbered or if there is something much different between the two. Beckett.com doesn't give any details to how these are different. Thanks!!
the mirror gold's are not serial numbered. they are mirror on one side only. the golds have a foil on one side.so as with the reg, there are 2 versions. the mirror gold i have only seen 3 and all had the mirror on the Juan side.

They have a huge inventory and are notorious for selling a lot of their cards at ridiculous prices. They however did purchase a huge private collection of cards a few years back. Shortly after purchasing it, they released a ton of great 90's inserts into the market, some that even at their high prices were deals. I actually purchased a number of cards from them and a few I have never seen since.

Anyways, they can be found on ebay and beckett marketplace.

One of the cards I bought that I have not seen since:

Yeah those are tough.. I am not sure what to call them? SCD has them a Mirror Mylar?
I feel like Foil/Mylar or something like that? Anywho the Mirror Golds are only the AL side
so if your looking for an NL player with their side mirrored it doesn't exist or at least thats what I told.

From what I understand they don't really have a site - they have a Beckett store.

I have some in hand and they are both gold foil and hologaphic. I was just wondering if anyone else had both and could compare.

I would personally go with the rarer inserts, as the autos tend to pop up much more frequently.

Cards are like art. You're going to be the one looking at it, so you better pick what you like - not what the market, the rarity, or we tell you is good. In your place I would want 2-3 super sweet 90's cards, and I would probably take my time selecting them looking for the wow factor. Maybe wait for some dazzling stuff to hit ebay on auction. Who knows, what you select may end up having an auto on it anyway!
