Not trying to be rude. Im being serious here. Whats the point in having more than 1 copy of each card.

Some cards are very appealing and you want to own more than one. Crusades for example, fit this category.

If there's a card I really like, it's fun to try to make a page of 9 in my album. Inspired by Warhol...

I too have multiples of some Rickey cards, not this many though. If it's just serial numbered I don't count as another card, but these memorabilia cards (and the ones I have) I would consider different as some are patches and some aren't.

I usually don't purchase more than one copy of a card. It has to be a card that is special to me. The thing about this particular card was that Grace didn't always get the respect that I thought he should, so when he was named to the top 50 active players, I thought it was really cool. I also loved the base set. The century parallels were tough to find, and a good investment in my opinion. They look very nice in person too. But more than anything, it was the validation of Grace's career that makes it special to me, and makes me want to own as many as I can. There are only 4 cards I hoard like that.

Well for 1.To drive the price up because you cant find the one you need. For 2 a serial numberd to 100 card only has one numbered 1/100 and only one numbered 2/100, for this reason below.

Just from the year being wrong?

people don't have a clue what they are looking at.. because they have just never been out there for sale and the year being wrong doesn't help either.

Thanks! I know I overpaid on the Tek Golds, but I needed them and his BIN OBO was really high. I have no idea how I did on the Illuminators. I don't recall seeing any sell recently; I just offered less than his BIN and he accepted. I might have overpaid for those or stole them, but either way I needed them and they look really cool in hand.

At the end of the day, is it really "overpaying" if its something you want?[/quote:2idw8gb2]

Really nice stuff.

You can't overpay unless you pay more than you feel something is worth. There are plenty of times I've paid a little more than I wanted to but IMO, I wouldn't have paid the amount had it been more than I was really okay with. I have two prices, one I'd like to pay, and one that is the max I'll pay. Get higher than those two prices and I'll just have to never own the card.

You can overpay though if you pay an excess amount for something that sells for way less on average. The rarity also plays a part too though. If there is only 10 of something and I needed it, and a guy just got one for $35 but one I come across is $60...I'm not leaving myself a whole lot of room to let it go. Now if it was $200(burbankish) then yes...I can let that go. It's way off the mark. But under $100 and you might be walking away from what could be a good deal. It depends on the card, the player, and the rarity.

This is something I don't really like doing for two reasons. One, I could use my funds in better ways instead of shelling out big bucks for the same card over and over again. And also, I do try to be somewhat considerate of the other player collectors. It's hard enough with all the low numbered stuff as it is. Throw hoarding into it and it can make it impossible. If it's a low numbered card and I have one, chances are it will be costly and I'd just as soon let someone else have a crack at it. If it's a 1/1...you are officially on your own.

I agree on this. I could use that money to buy another card insted of one I already own. Only time I would buy a second rare card is if it were cheap and I could use it to trade with someone.
