Finally landed a 1997 EX-2000 Essential Credentials /99. Wasn't cheap, but it was well under my high bid, so I'm happy:

In my mind it was cheap (My high bid was $55). I was not sure how other people would value the card though, so that is why I said that. I was very happy and somewhat surprised it went at that price.

Wow - It looks like all of the player collectors still need a lot of the Red Labels. I wonder where they are all hiding? You hardly ever seem them come up for auction. I wonder if there is still a lot of unopened product out there somewhere?

For both 98 and 99 there are Red Labels /100, /50, and /25 for each player. Not to mention all the 1/1 possibilities. I have all my red labels except the /25 from 1999. I even have one Masterpiece.

Not surprisingly, a lot of these hit the market back in 1998 and 1999 when packs were being opened. Not sure why they aren't coming back to the market as much as other issues like Legacies. One thing that sucks about 1999 Red Labels is that the serial numbering is missing the foil on every single card (from what I understand). Lame.

1998 Topps Gold Label
1998 Topps Gold Label is a 300-card, multi-fractured, multi-tiered, set released by Topps in October, 1998. Structured similarly to Fleer's Flair Showcase set, there are 100 players released on three different, repeating, levels, each with it's own design: Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3. The Class 1 cards are the easiest to find, while the Class 3s the toughest.

To distinguish between the Classes, each Class 1 card has the player's name stamped in gold foil and has a fielding pose in the background. Class 2 shows the player running with sparkling silver foil. The Class 3 have sparkling gold foil with a hitting or pitching photograph.

1999 Topps Gold Label

I've got 5 of the 6 Red Labels of Alex from '98 and '99. I'm missing the 1999 Class 3 Red. ARod also has 2 Red Label inserts from '99 #ed/44 and I have 1 of those. I have a '98 Red Label Griffey insert from '98. If someone has either of the ARods I'm missing the Griffey is yours. I have a sealed box of '98 Gold Label that is sitting on my desk. It's pretty tempting.
