I just realized that baseballcardpedia has some odds listed for some of those rare Collector's Choice/UD Choice inserts we enjoy discussing. I'll compare what they list vs. what my Feb. 2001 Beckett says

1997 You Crash the Game Instant Win bbcp 1:721; Beckett 1:721
1998 You Crash the Game Instant Win bbcp 1:1296 (1 in 3 cases); Beckett 1:721
1998 Starquest Home Run bbcp 1:2160 (1 in 5 cases); Beckett "randomly inserted"
1999 Starquest Gold bbcp (unknown); Beckett "randomly inserted"

Notes:

- All four sets have 30 cards each

- The baseballcardpedia odds for 1998 appear to be based on someone that opened 15 cases and reported their findings. Was that a board member? If they are right, then maybe those odds also apply to the 1997 You Crash Instant Winners.

Can anyone provide some insight as to why it's been seemingly forever since I've seen a 1994 Finest Refractor Greg Maddux at auction? The big names in the set sell regularly, and for not a whole lot of $$, but the Maddux is impossible to find (unless it's listed at an insane BIN price). I don't believe it's short printed. Or is it?

I think the 94 and 95's are much more rare than the 93's. Just remember 1994 was a strike year and all 94 product is in a shorter supply than 93 stuff.

Just no one listing. 1994 is a 440 card set over two series (220 each). The print run is "similar" to the 199 card 1993 set. Many are still sitting in hoards, so bought based on 1993 prices and got stuck......I need an Orel Hershiser to finish another set and I have not seen one in a year.

Does anyone have an example of the 1997 Pinnacle Mint Gold Redemption coins? They were 1/1's available only via redemption and the redemption cards were something like 1:47,000 packs. Just wondering if anyone has one of their player as I have never seen one. They were made of almost 1 ounce of solid 24Kt Gold. Just to be clear, I'm not talking about teh gold-plated coins.
