Oliver Perez flies back to New York

Perez is heading back to New York to have his sore right knee examined, the NY Post reports.

Spin: Perez tweaked his knee making a play at first against the Braves two starts ago and then was bombed Sunday against Philadelphia. The patellar tendinitis him from May 2-July 8 and was not fullly healed when he was activated. Given how the Mets' year has gone, it would not be surprising to find out he needs season-ending surgery.

Finally some GOOD injury news and we hopefully don't have to suffer through another Oli start for the rest of the season. They should just be honest and put him on the DL for his pride, because that's the only thing hurting right now.
