People lurk. That's what happened. Everyone waits for someone else to provide the content or to start the topics. On the flip side - when people do start topics, lots of people razz them.
Edit: BTW, this place far from "sucks". It has a lot of great members and incentives.

i don't think the place "sucks", but I do agree that the site has a lot more of the stuff in this post now and there definitely seems to be something that went south when the boards changed to new format.
There aren't nearly as many posts in the box break forums anymore and even the transactions thread is slow (used to have to bump almost daily to stay relevant, but not anymore).
I think this kind of stuff may have pushed good people away. There just seems to be more of this childish non-sense and it's the same cast of characters in each thread. Skrip was right on - a bunch of internet bullying over stuff that is so ridiculously a waste of people's time. I mean think about... this guy posted a "thank you" post for getting cards from a valued member and is being yelled at because it's his second time he requested some free cards from NEC. Big flippin deal. The guy was giving them away. If you offer to give stuff away, what does it matter how many times someone takes you up on your generosity. If someone wins a free spot in AIC group break does that mean he shouldn't enter the contest the next time he gives a slot away? No, it doesn't. There's no difference. Someone gave something away, several times and several times he was taken up on it by the same dude.
And if he another account here, BFD! I had one too because I got locked out and couldn't get a hold of anyone in a timely manner to help me reset the account, so I created a new one, which is not defunct because Chris helped me resolve the problem on this account.

How about what we'd like less of - and I'll answer it - less of people trying to stir up XXXX, make everything into a controversy, internet tough guys, whiners, people who need to try to make others feel bad over what they post, unsupportive fellow collectors. Let me point out the newsflash - I doubt you have many people in your everyday life that collect cards are care to talk about them with you. They may even find you a little creepy. LOL. Why come to a place where you have a community of people who share a common hobby and bash them for it? Way to alienate even more people that can share in conversation with you about your common hobby. And there in may lie the answer to onehrk22's post. But, hey, what do I know!

But I think that the bigger problem is that baseball cards suck right now. No excitement at all.
We have been getting the same ole XXXX for years now and it won't improve until there is competition.

We need a thread where we can just bash one and other and leave it out of the rest. Like a vent room or punching pillows at the head doctors office. Most of the stuff on the baseball boards gets so blow up its not funny. It's crazy

I'm never on the side of a scammer...but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. He posted a thank you post...he could have just as easily said nothing and continued trying to 'subtly' get free cards sent his way which is what I think everyone is accusing him of. If someone sent him cards twice without him asking for them...so what? They're two cards on his top 10 list and he's obviously very happy about it and NECpilgrims had no use for them...seems like a win win

Wow! Maybe instead of having contests for Cards,we should give away diapers and playpens! This site has taken a few steps back the last few months! I still visit because there are still great members and posters here who know how to conduct themselves in a normal fashion!
