I agree with the inscription idea. Phil Niekro always signed for me ttm, and he inscribed "To David". I had no problems with it, considering I got it signed for my pc. I think that if athletes took the time to learn the requesters name and inscribed it accordingly, there would be fewer people trying to resell the autograph on ebay. This might not be a popular idea, but nobody is forcing someone to pay for an athletes autograph in the first place.

actualy there is, there are still people that gets autos for thier collections, and belive it or not, they dont get autos to make money. but in his world, if your an abult getting autos, you are a waste of space trying to make a quick buck, which is far from true

His post was absolutely ignorant and ridiculous. I'll never understand the "if you're an adult getting autographs then you're a dealer" mentality that some people have. The only way that's wrong is if someone is making their living off of autographs, and even then, how does that affect the celebrity/athlete? How is it right for a guy like Johnny Bench to charge an adult fan $100 a pop for his autograph, but be a ***** to him if that same adult asks him at a spring training game? And I can guarantee you that some of the toughest autographs in sports are just that because the person doesn't like how things go down when theyre signing, not because someone god forbid makes 50 bucks off a signed ball.

I get autographs.. so f'ing what. I have a collection at home. Do I sell them? NOPE. What is the difference though when Topps/UD/ITG/RAZOR/ELITE/DONRUSS/TRISTAR/JUST/CLASSIC BEST/SCORE/Pinnacle/ sell baseball cards and make a profit? Even worse.. they sell autographs. Do you know how much most players (NOT Superstars) get per Auto.. $1-$5 per auto on card. Do you think the baseball card companies are paying them what they are making off their signatures??

really? you want to get into this discussion on a thread board with people that DO collect autographs for their personal collections? Most of the people on this site are good people that collect cards and IP autos because they like the hobby. There are some waste of spaces that come to games to purely get IP autos to sell (see AFL this past year with Bryce Harper).
however, they are the exception to the rule.
