Either way is fine with me, it really doesn't affect me to skip over the spam thread's that I don't want to read but I know some other's may have a hard time with this idea. :D

When you have to go back 2 pages to find 1 page of material to read it becomes a bit much.

Wow, that's occurred on here (there's been 2 full page's of Spam, that's made you hit the "next" button to find non-spam post's)?

No what I am saying is if no spam was in this forum 1 page of readable topics wouldn't be spread over 2-3 pages.

Alot of time the Spam thread's are more related to our hobby than the topic's that aren't spam related.

I dont agree someone posting a card they are selling is hardly hobby news. This topic has came up before I am not about to argue with you over it. Just like you dont understand why people cant just click over it I dont understand the big deal with making its own forum, people who are looking for auctions will go there plain and simple.

I have made two "spam" threads recently...but have not bumped either and neither have gotten replies. I still feel i get exposure with the views my auctions and the post gets...so i think they should stay here. not that i will continue to post them of course, but if people view them and there is no raucous, i think it should be allowed to stay on the main boards.

If you look back on the last few pages, there are as many if not more OT/non hobby related topics as there are spam threads.

I'm not here to argue bud, just stating my opinion. :D I think making another forum would do several things that won't be good for the site...1.You're going to have constant feud's over what "is" & what "isn't" considered Spam (this happenned on the BMB & turned into a "favoritism" merry-go-round, as those that were in with the Mod's could post spam-esque thread's & those that weren't were getting popped for thread's that were not intended or created for spamming purpose's. 2. A new forum will deduct from this forum's traffic 3.People that spam here do so for a reason, because of the traffic (no one will use a new forum & it will then just be wasted space). 4. This is actually the most important to me & should be numero uno (#1) but I'm doing this off the top of my head so it is what it is: This is "Freedom"cardboard, not the BMB; this site's had GREAT success because of it's flexibility & it's Wild West nature (oh Alllll the opportunities  ) where the cowboy's & outlaw's ride free & the lawdog's are sparesly seen (but when called for, Wyatt Earp will make his presence known) :D ... Why tinker with a good thing? cough-BMB-cough... You tinker & fix something that doesn't yet need to be fixed & you end up breaking it! Just my 2cents :D

Edit: I was in "No-Way" saying that these Mod's here would play favorite's, but I do think that things could get murky with the member's if this passes (no spam) & then things are not regulated to the "T" in every situation.

and this section is used quite often. An ebay spam forum doesn't do anything more than fcbay already does.

I dont mind seeing the spam threads. Spam threads = Yankees and Boston threads to me.

My suggestion would be a member can only make one thread per day.
Additionally, the thread should be locked and no replies allowed.

People could share their wares and the thread is cycled through.

I never go to other parts of this Message board and seeing the threads helps me find members cards

FCBay is a neat idea but it doesn't single out individual item's (which is normally what the spam thread's are, to call attention to an individual item or a certain type of item that is listed). Of course, if you want to see someone's auction's & look through them to try & find particular things you will use FCBay; but why not just use Ebay & expand your option's? The spam thread's usually aren't created around "look at my stuff" they are more of "look at my 08 b.chrome ref lot" or "look at my Inoa blue ref auto" etc. Sure if someone wants to take the time to run the searches & figure out what is out there then use FCBay, but most are too lazy (as am I when I am on this site) which is why spam really isn't too bad a thing.

I personally have no issues with someone spamming their auctions. What I find a little annoying is that they get bumped a little too frequently

I really don't care either way because I don't really spam my auctions but I also don't have a problem skipping over these threads if I'm not interested.

But honestly is it the spam that is the problem? Or is it that there simply weren't enough threads with legitimate content up at that time? A lot of spam is a lot of spam, but if there are other threads that are interesting to discuss for people on a message board, these will naturally get more attention and draw more posts than any spam thread ever will...which will solve the problem as each reply serves as a bump...pushing the spam thread down one spot on the page.

Basically what I'm saying is that if there are enough interesting topics being posted, it won't matter if spam threads are posted or not because the other threads will naturally end up being bumped more than the spam threads will through discussion.

The only thing I could see being a problem is constant bumps to a person's own thread for an ebay item which has received no replies...because obviously no one is interested.

I personally would hope that when the mods are deciding what to do about this, they will strongly consider the fact that it is FREEDOMcardboard.com, and that the idea of having limited rules about the content of posts is one of the most appealing factors of this forum.

This. This is the problem with spam threads.

Sure, I can not open them, which is what I do. But they still affect the board. Seriously, when you open FCB, how many times do you actually go to the second or third page browsing threads? I rarely do. Once stuff gets pushed back to the second page, it severely lowers the odds that people will see them and respond. A bunch of great threads end up dying off because no one sees them. And spam and other type threads are a contributing factor

I normally don't mind the spam threads, but I agree with others that it gets to be a bit much at times. Here's a thought (if this is possible):

1. Make the Spam icon mandatory when posting your spam. Most folks are good at this already.
2. Incorporate into the software (if possible) that when the spam icon is used, the thread is automatically locked.

This way the spam threads can be read by everyone (who's interested) and the threads are not being continually bumped to the top.

Spam away. Bump it w/ a couple hours to go. 1 bump w/ 2 hours or less then any other bumps = removal whether before or after.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be but if you can't give special treatment to OT threads and kick all of the spam threads out.

Shouldnt all these be moved to general chat?

What do you consider spam?

Ebay Auctions, Photo Bucket links, Box Sales? Basically anything for sale?

Herein lies a big part of the problem if it is banned, how spam will be defined & if it will be interpretted the same on each & "every" instance; not just removing some that is reported to the Mod's & leaving other stuff that may be borderline spam (it needs to be clear cut).

I liked the eBay spam forum, it was good for posting a thread or bumping an existing thread if you added newer items that week or wanted to highlight a particular auction or group. Perhaps you could have both, the eBay spam forum as well as an allowance with limitations for posts in the regular forums. Is there a way to linking such a cap or time limit on bumps to threads that use the spam icon only? I do think that a link in your sig, the FCB page, and a spam forum would be more than sufficient, certainly infinitely more than what Beckett allowed.
