so what's the answer cardtreasury??
you mean what is "his" incorrect answer? He already stated Andrew McCutchen....surely he won't be better than Hanley.

No I didn't. Of course he meant mine. It was my post.

The "answer" is 5.

Five people agree with me, although not all of them do exclusively.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but Mike, how about scanning your Montgomery stash for us?

(It's sick, folks.)

Lots of great choices; none of them wrong (unless you're a psychic). I still like my choice. Ask "wunderkind" Strasburg if he's good. :)

Darn embargo...

Now we know what everyone's answers are as to who will be best, now we need to define "BEST"??

Best hitter?
Best SB?
Best Defense?
Best in clubhouse?
Best charisma?
Best off the field?
Best "fan favorite"?

How much weight/value do you apply to each categoy?
How much weight do you give for position?
Are stats considered for their career numbers or just based on that year?

IMHO, best should be defined as best slugging percentage over a 5 year stretch, PROVIDED they are well rounded in all the other categories, and have captured the fan's hearts.

I thought when you said he's awesome in reference to mccutchen, you were saying that was your pick...i misunderstood you...

Anyway, I agree Upton will be in the mix, but i don't really think anyone will stand out, with several having their strengths, just like today (besides pujols) many have their own best. I doubt anyone will stand out in a way that Pujols has, but IF (BIG IF) someone does, it will probably be one of the greats today that actually gets a lot better with time (ie teixera, votto, adrian gonzales,(too bad adrian isn't in a hitters park..i think he would surprise MANY).

If it is one of the "younguns", here are the current players 25 and younger with SLG of 500+
