I hate the Cotuit Kettleers. But they have a player who is having a historically good season on Cape Cod in Victor Roache. He led the NCAA with 30 bombs this year, and is pretty much a damn monster at the plate. So when he came up with the tying run on base tonight I got slightly nervous. Our coach brought in John Simms from Rice, who was on Team USA last season to nail down a 1.1 inning save. The video above is my perspective watching the game.

I gave Simms "For Whom The Bell Tolls" as his walk out song, and he loved it. Our team was freaking out for it, and it got the crowd super pumped up tonight. But my favorite part timing wise is after Roache grounds out you get to hear The Miz' theme song ring out "AWESOME" across our entire field.

You can even hear the PA intern, who is normally a little quiet and nervous was super pumped up announcing that Cotuit didn't score.

I got my undergrad at Georgia Southern, Roache is loved in Statesboro; I'm glad to hear he's having a good Cape League.

I'll be at Rice for my graduate degree in the not too distant future; nice to see a local boy handle himself on the mound too.

Last night the Mountaineers had a thriller as well.

They were being no-hit (multiple pitchers) going into the ninth inning.

The first batter reached on a walk and the second batter crushed a mammoth blast to left that tied the game at 2. The next batter walked and was then bunted over to second. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored the winning run on a walk off single.

That last inning certainly made up for the previous 8.

We actually took Roache out of the lead in BA and Home runs since Waldrip is now ahead of him in both. He still leads in RBI. Simms is leading for saves now.

Love it Beefy!

have you spoken to Hunter Morris? id love to see him in a Mets uniform ;)

I have not in a bit, but was thinking today I had to drop him a text, and then your post motivated me, so just sent one to him. I'd love to see him closer to here too, although Milwaukee is a good fit once Price leaves.

We have had some good sized rains that kept the field way too wet for the Stingers.

Haven't made many games this year though.

I am also a Georgia Southern alum (2009). A friend of mine used to pitch for Wofford, so we went to Statesboro and watched them play this past season. And I can concur that Vic is an absolute beast at the plate. I saw him hit a ball that's still in the process of coming down!

The thing that's missing that as good as Roche is, Simms got him to ground out meekly in the biggest at bat of the game, in a game that would have tied Cotuit with us for a playoff spot. Instead they are 2 games back.

That makes four GSU alums on FCB that I know of. Class of 2006 here.

I see you live in SAV...I love and miss that city. I'm a member of Solomon's Lodge No. 1 on Bay Street (Freemasons).
