The way I look at it. If they are cutting corners on their autograph...they most likely are cutting corners in their baseball career. Being lazy.... not giving 100%.... ho hum attitude. Hope that doesnt translate to the field.... but so far both are struggling....might be something to it.
Another example... Jason Heyward.

That's one ugly sig for sure. There might be a reason he rushed those autos. Lack of time? It might be interesting to see if any of the low #'d autos look any better.

I try not to look too much in to it other than to assume the guy is already tired of signing and might be looking at a lifetime of autograph requests ahead of him if things work out. Besides, in an era of players having 100's of autograph inserts available every year, its all the more reason to have a premium on a RC or FY card

If Lawrie had not fallen into the camera pit that game he would not have missed so many games and would have more hits, home runs and RBI 's to meet ,equal or surpass Harper at this point. Never mind I have over 213 of Lawrie Rookie Cards lol!

Time will tell. For all 3 to change a nice autograph to something that we see today.... it shows they will cut corners. All 3 are young and if they do that with an autograph... will they do that with how they prepare for a game? Too soon to tell with Bryce and Brett. But Heyward is just an ok player right now... sure.. u take away Mark Reynolds Strike out numbers.... He'd be an All Star 3B. Or take away all of a pitchers losses... Im sure he'd be a HOF pitcher.... thing is.. you cant... so to take away Heywards .219 BA against lefties he is a pretty good player.

Im pretty sure these guys place more importance on their baseball careers than they do how thier autographs look. Sign a few thousand autographs and see if you arent finding ways to shorten it.

I don't even know why I'm doing this because the correlation between autograph aesthetics and on-field performance/effort is beyond absurd but Heyward has changed his auto again this year and it's better now than any time since he was drafted. Check the on-card sigs in TTT for example. He started giving this auto in spring training. I don't know if someone said something to him or if it has something to do with his contract with Just running out (which I think is why he started sweet spotted balls again) but it looks really good now.
