I was so excited when it popped up on ebay last week. I could not hit the BIN fast enough. Thought someone would pay before me. Got it Yesterday. I have 2 golds since 1997. To me it was like getting a 1998 crusade red.

Nice find! Looking at the date, this must have been the last big convention during the last peak of collecting, 1 week before the 1994 strike.

That if effin' fabulous. Congrats! I'm with you, it's almost as satisfying to find one of those elusive little oddballs as it is to harpoon a white whale.

FYI Robbie Alomar had a promo card from that same show, and I've had the silver version since 1994. But funny enough, I had the opposite problem when it came to the gold. I'd always heard that a gold existed, but never seen one until a couple years ago when it popped up on ebay.

BTW - does your gold version also say "1/5000" on it? And, are the background square foil patterns oriented 45 degrees from the silver? Just curious, since that's how the Alomars are.
