Do you really think a team is going to give up a top 5 prospect in all of baseball for a possible half year rental? LOL

Wow you Brewers fans are really dreaming big. Do you really think a team is going to give up their top prospects in the farm, arguably in the game for a half year rental? LOL

One more time? Ego big enough yet?

Not talking crap, being sensible. One Guy pitching every 4-5 days is not going to do anything for the team and he's going to be a free agent in 2013...do you really think he would resign to play there?

I never said anything about Garza staying. I'm saying he has more trade value as he's not a rental. Team would have control of him for a longer time.

Greinke getting tossed today was some funny stuff. He might even pitch tomorrow now. Both he AND the 1st base umpire acted like children, but his getting tossed is complete crap. That has to go down as one of the shortest decisions ever, 4 pitches.

leatherman, paging leatherman; I'm sure someone gave up a HR and then got hurt or something, thus taking the loss.

Baltimore may give up more that people might think to get Greinke. I am guessing the front office is seeing this year as a rare chance to contend in the AL East and they will need to make a big move to hold off the Rays and the Soxs. Not saying it will be Machado, but you never know what they might do if they think Greinke is the key to getting into the playoffs this year.

I am not expecting them to land a top 10 guy, but you never know what might happen.

I feel like the people who think the Brewers are going to land a #1 prospect/Top 15 in the game type of prospect, don't understand that half year rentals no longer hold the value they used to, thanks to the latest CBA.

Before, even if they were only a rental, you could offer the player arbitration, have them turn it down and then, when someone else signs them, recoup a supplemental pick for them.

That is no longer the case. Only the original team can offer arb. and then receive a pick if it is turned down, which means teams will be more leery of giving up a top prospects/multiple top prospects/mlb ready talent for a rental player.

As it is, the best name I have heard tossed around for Greinke has been Olt, but I think if Atlanta decides to stay near the top of the East and really make a run, they MIGHT offer up one of those nice young arms they have been stocking up.

Olt is going is going nowhere for a rental, no matter if it is Hammels or Greinke. Daniels is a pretty sharp dude. Buckel plus would be the type of package available.

Man I just watched the highlights, that's crazy. Immediately after getting tossed he said to the umpire "I'm mad at myself" which you could tell. Hitters throw helmets and bats all the time and don't get tossed. Now, I don't know why Greinke would spike the ball when time hasn't been called, but seriously to eject him for that? That's crazy.

Personally don't want to see Greinke as a rental come to Texas but I think they are going to get desperate if the Angels keep pushing.
I would much rather get one of the studs in Tampa's rotation or let our young pitchers (Holland, Perez, Feliz) get a chance to suceed or fail.

The Rangers have made several deals the last 2 years and aren't afraid to deal some prospects, the window for winning a W.S.
is getting much smaller for this team considering Hamilton, Napoli are free agents and Cruz will be next year, Michale Young is getting older.
(Hopefully Profar and Olt are off the table this team is going to need power hitters in 2 years.)

The only bright light is the team as won 52 games, most of their hitters have yet to get hot and a majority of the pitching has gotten hurt but will be back
before August. You never now with Daniels he has shown a knack for making deals but sending players who are not consider elite prospects. They will make some deals because they have a surplus of players who are stuck in the minors with no real chance to crack the roster anytime soon.
(Engel Beltre, Julio Borbon to name a couple)

Oddly enough, it's almost the same with the Yankees.

Nobody on the Yankees is having a "great" year thus far, Cano is the only player to really even have a hot streak this season. Andy Pettitte, Joba Chamberlain and several other bullpen arms will be coming back by September.

I'm not sure what they'll get exactly but I do know Doug Melvin will rape some team in the trade, he's good at doing that. See the Richie Sexson and Carlos Lee deals for reference.

Was the Carlos Lee trade really that lopsided? Didn't Texas get Nelson Cruz in that deal?

It was OK, but giving up Cruz hurt in the long run. The Brewers had Cordero for a year and a half, and he was one of the most dominant closers in the game at the time (after he left TEX). It's hard to believe that Shrek (I mean Kevin Mench) was the centerpiece. If you look at it that way, Melvin really wiffed, but got lucky. I'm pretty sure Lance Nix wasn't much of a factor at all.

However, the loss of Cordero after 2007 netted the Brewers a supplemental draft pick in 2008, which turned into Jake Odorizzi, who was a large part (40%?) of the package that landed the Brewers Zack Grienke. But Melvin shouldn't get all the credit for that either.

I understand the Brewers aren't getting Bundy or Machado for Greinke but I have no interest in any of the other players Baltimore could be offering. Especially on the pitching side, from Matusz, Arrieta, or Tillman. Neither of those pitchers have given me any indication that they are ready to succeed in the majors even if they pitch in the weaker NL.

Pretty sure Tillman gave you a reason last week. And he wouldn't be my first choice.
