Very disappointed that the O's locked him up for such a long period of time. I was hoping it would be a 3 year deal, and that the Mets would possibly have a chance at him in 2012. Oh well, guess I'll have to see him in interleague play here at Jackie park, or drop a crap load of money to see him play the Spankees. Only good thing out of this is, his cards remain relatively low in price and I can continue building the collection :)

BTW Andrew, that was a hell of a sale on the gold, considering you can probably pick up another 9.5 gold for $200 less. I still envy that deal you got on that lot brother.

As a side note, anyone know the specifics of the deal, no trade clauses and such? I looked yesterday and didn't see any specific info.

a few details of the contract

The deal includes a $17.5 million mutual option for the 2015 season with a $2 million buyout, a limited no-trade clause in which Markakis can block a deal to eight teams each year, standard incentive clauses, escalating clauses that can be worth as much as $7.5 million, and a $2.1 million signing bonus to be paid over the next two seasons. He'll make a base salary of $3 million this year, $6.75 million in 2010, $10.254 million in 2011, $12 million in 2012 and $15 million each in the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
