DO you have the OS disk or system restore disks? I would say reformat it.

Just hit start, go to user control panel, and add/delete programs. Delete everything you want off, but be careful not to delete any sytem programs.

Why do you use this forum as your personal tech support center? Start posting all your tech help questions in the general forum. This crap is getting annoying.

I'll second that. You should try the Computer Tech Forum before starting a thread here IMO. Example, I bought a blackberry and did not know how to download pics and music. So, I went to the blackberry forum and my questions were answered. I am listening to El Sujeto and Omega con su Mambo Violento.

Do not do this!!! This is the wrong answer and will NOT take care of information in the registry. Your best bet is to buy a hard disk cleaner (they are like $20) and it will walk you through deleting anything that shouldn't be on the drive before you sell (ie. personal info, ****, credit cards, etc.).

Do either my way or Murphy's way. When I manually clean up my computer, this is always one of the things I do and I have never had problems because I know what I'm doing.

How is this the wrong way though? He wants to rid his computer of some programs he installed himself, this is the way I would do it. I'm not suggesting in anyway to go in and blindly mess with registry stuff. I even cautioned in the post above to steer clear of programs & files you are unfamilliar with.

Because if you are selling your computer to someone, the last thing you want is personal info stored on it. Simply deleting programs does nothing to get rid of personal info whatsoever. There are plenty of scammers out there who buy old computers simply to get lucky and pull personal info off it from unsuspecting sellers.

Well I must have misread the thread post as I didn't realize he was trying to sell or get rid of personal info. I skimmed through it and just saw that he was trying to get rid of programs he had installed.
