OT: How do we get some traffic on the other boards?

Baseball season will be over before we know it and there just isn't much action on the other boards. Back in the days of beckett I use to rotate through the boards depending on what time of the year it was. The basketball and football boards were a blast and it held me over until baseball season rolled around again. I'm sure the baseball boards will still be getting daily mail day post, AFL post, and a few Lincecum post through the fall/winter ,but I need more. Where did all the beckett football and basketball members go? Anyone have any good idea's on how to get more traffic on the other boards? I'd be willing to throw some money in for some advertising on other sites if it would help. My contest escapades last year didn't seem to help and just caused to much drama ,so I'm going to axe that idea this year.

I've tried to refer people from other sites ,but once they get over here they say it's just dead on the other boards. A couple other boards I visit are so busy it's hard to keep a topic on the first page. I thought contest last year might help people stick around ,but it just ended up being the same members playing over and over.

That's a good idea. I always write on my bubble mailers the fcb website. Dunno if it does any good.

Referring 100 people may help but likely not do the trick.

The baseball boards succeeded by having notable members make the move and then bringing their followers along. People like jaypers and magicpapa are not only great for the site but they also have a huge following who will go where they do. With those 2 and a few 100 others out there that have been here since day one have passed the word around, making the site what it is today.

Ryo and flight did a good job at bringing over a bunch of football members but after the initial draw it has died down some.

by finding a few more football, basketball and hockey forum leaders to make this their home and convince their friends to come around is really what is needed.

a board needs 15 online members to even be given a chance. Most non baseball signups leave 10 minutes after they sign up because no one likes to talk to themselves.

With that said,

What do you guys think about a pack the board night? Pick a day in the future and have everyone who uses the site use that board. It would be a little cheesy, but potentially worthwhile when it comes to grass roots. If everyone on the site could tell 10 people who collect basketball that we are having a party on the basketball boards it "could" work. If we could get 50 basketball signups, they may stay with so much traffic. If a large number of them come back (15 or more), it could potentially be enough to jump start the board.

just a thought, might be good, might be bad. With that said, we have all been struggling with figuring out how to make this happen. I will stand on my soap box and say that we have the best sports collecting community on the net regardless of sport. I believe that if people stay long enough they would agree with me on that.

I'd even start collecting vintage hockey and football if there was alot to go around. Don't care about basketball so that doesn't really matter to me.

I think We need to keep at it Coastal (Basketball anyways). I think if we do random Contest and keep game threads going we will eventually get it. It just may take a few seasons. I would have thought that with the contest you were throwing and the Game threads going we would have kept a few people. I have to admit that at the end (Late Playoffs) I quit posting as much because I got to caught up in my team losing and other teams moving on . I have a diffrent attitude this year as I am going to keep pushing Game threads and doing random contest all the way to the end (Barring me having to travel for work).
If you have any new ideas please count me in!! Maybe if we all pool together (Get a nice prize) we can throw a huge contest to start the season and just get the word out for people to atleast come sign up and visit (Even if its for the contest only) and I bet we keep a few heads around. Im not sure but like I said let me know.

You know I'll be over on the basketball boards this season. My Nets might have a rough year ,but I bet my boy Devin Harris puts up some nasty stats this year with Carter being gone. The contest for the Dwight Howard SPx Auto/Jersey RC went really good last year. I did about 30 contest last year. Maybe I should just try a weekly contest. Our daily game threads were pretty popular. I'm not sure what we can do on the football boards.
