great photos brian!

staying warm?

Yeah I am. The wife is home today too to share in the excitement with me. You folks have to realize its been nearly 6 years since we've seen snowfall accumulate like this. Its wonderful and beautiful all in one.

We had snow here last year. It didn't stay for more than an hour or two but, it's pretty rare to get snow here in GA, too.

It's kinda cool to see that there are so many collectors from NC. Do you guys have good hobby shops down there, if any?

Kinda OT - Do you think a MLB team could make it in say, Raleigh or Charlotte?

There are several shops near me. I have the Batters Box(which I used to work at--about 30 minutes from me in Greenville). There is Paper Heroes in Kinston about an hour from me, and then there is the Hobby Box in Wilmington(Chris Justice's shop--from youtube) Then we have Lew's Rod and Reel in Havelock--its a chinese restaurant/bait shop/tackle shop/card shop/boat shop. Its an OK shop and not much there though.

As for your question, I don't think that a team would work right now. There was a study done in the late 90's for a possible team being located in the Greensboro area. There was a stat thrown out that in a 100 mile radius from the proposed stadium there were over 1million people. The argument was that how many people would come to see a bottom of the barrel expansion team in NC play on a Wednesday night. Exactly. Not many. Then there was talk about putting the team in Charlotte but proponents were against the idea saying that Charlotte already had a basketball team and football team and a pro baseball team might take away from what was already a mediocre fanbase following the other major sports.

We got about 3-4 inches here in Durham. First time there has actually been accumulation here in at least 5 years.

Also for the MLB team question. I don't think it would work. There are many, many minor league teams throughout the state that all do well, in fact there are 6 within a 90 minute drive of me. However, those all pull locally and I really doubt that enough people would be willing to drive 1 hour or more for every home game throughout a year to maintain a MLB team. Greensboro would be the worst place to put it, it would have to be in either Charlotte or Raleigh.

I agree, you guys can keep the snow down there.

+1

Anyone interested in seeing snow first hand is more than welcome to shovel Tomlinson21RB house and drive 3 hours to my house and do my driveway and deck. There is plenty for you all to have fun.

I have a big enough snow bank on the side of my driveway for all of you to come build a fort.

Yep...snow here as well.

In regards to MLB in NC...Raleigh would be a logical spot and it probably could support a team. The way Raleigh has rallied behind the Hurricanes, I would have to think an MLB team could do well. Obviously the Durham Bulls wouldn't like it.

You don't think a team in Raleigh could outdraw the Marlins? :D :D

1.3 million in 08 - 16th out of 16

Congrats Brian!!! I do miss the (look of) snow ;) One thing I remember about SC when I went to school there, is that the WHOLE town basically shut down because they had no idea how to handle it. Sliding all over, no plows, it was crazy! Enjoy!

Glad somebody likes it.

Cary, NC reporting here. Maybe 4 - 6 inches of snow, and I can't stand a single inch of it.

And before you haters come out, I did my time in Chicago suburbs with snow up to my windowsills. And I didn't like it any more up there either.

end grumpy old man rant. :-) **edit** and old man that can't spell.....

3-4 inches of snow here in Hickory, NC. My dog Lou doesn't know what to think.

Our local low A team does very well, especially on "Thirsty Thursday" but I personally don't want to see a MLB team in NC (I truly don't think we could support it). How could you want a MLB team when you have the Bobcats? :| They are like an NBA team for washed up Tarholes.

Where do you live abncollectsautos?

Hahaha! Can you write your name?

Looks like no precipitation tonight or the rest of the week. It's a shame though, it's cold enough. Went to see Gary at Extra Innings today. Blew $60 on 07' EEE and didn't pull an auto. When will I ever learn?

Thanks for trying to put a good spin on it Blan-man. Nothing like pulling die cut soccer players, non auto'd college ties, and a Matt Domingez gu'd #'d to 500. LOL
