This year's draft on ESPN really sucked...simply because Steve Young was on! Was it just me or did the entire Draft crew Thursday and Friday night seem annoyed by him? Why did they have him in the center and why on earth did they allow him to talk as much as he did? Granted he's a Super Bowl winner for my beloved 49ers but he really bugged me during the draft. I think he's had one too many concussions IMO.

Very few former QB's are good on a TV broadcast. They have a hard time not talking about themselves. Ron Jaworski is my favorite, Terry Bradshaw is terrible, and Phil Simms is bearable.

The reason they hire ex football players is that they can draw upon their own expierences to add to the commentary. To dislike that, is to dislike the point of it all.

They should've had Shannon Sharpe!!!!
When you can't understand what somebody says because of all the missing words that make complete sentences and with how he takes out random letters from real words, not to mention it sounds like he's got a mouth full of crap when he speaks, I can't see how you can go wrong with that choice. Good call Time.

Football players play football. It's the quarterback's job to throw the ball. When he throws the ball the reciever should catch it. It's all pretty simple. Commentators commentate. A ham sandwich without ham is just bread.

They should go to an Exclusive "Mel Camera" so we can see his reaction to all the "reaches" and flat-out bad picks.

And yes, I agree Young and Millen are both awful at it. Keyshawn and Cris Carter aren't much better.

I was talking about this with my buddy who was watching the draft with me. Steve Young was really really bad this year on his commentary. He seemed lost and like he didn't even know what he was saying half the time.

My favorite though was when Berman would ask a question and either one of two things would happen.

1. Several guys would try to talk at the exact same time and instead of one stopping and letting another finish, they'd just try talking louder over the other guy(s).

2. Berman would let them respond for about 1.3 seconds and then cut them off and start talking again.
