I'm watching the Laker's trounce the Jazz and I get the idea of a halftime show; you need something to air while the players aren't playing and 20 minutes of commercials is turned off but this content is unbearable.

I can't believe I was subject to hear two people's "Fav 5 international players" and it doesn't get better: coming up next is Kobe's journey. Token hip hop wannabe Stu Scott is also at the helm of the show and Van Gundy is rattling on about his favorite Kanye song. That was after he started babbling about the pointlessness of bringing a glove to a baseball game. The NBA is trying uncomfortably hard to be cool.

The NBA is too hip hop, so I don't even watch it.

It was my favorite sport up until about 10 years ago, now it's just a comedy show.

The bold just means "I don't want to sound racist, but the NBA is too black for me"

Well it wouldn't sound right if I did come out and say that. Some may get that impression, but MJ was my favorite player, as was Sammy in baseball. I'm just not a fan of overpaid 18 year olds sporting gold chains and nice grills who try to act like rappers. Give me some scrappy veterans like Malone, Stockton, David Robinson, MJ, Magic, Isiah, Bird, etc.
Man Im with you on missing those guy. I think I just Love basketball as a whole enough to find my niche with these new players. It's gettong harder and harder to find guys with that Old School (Playing) mentality. I Am enjoying what Wade, Howard and Lebron are becomming as those are just some of the Guys that keep me excited to watch the Nba. My man KG doesnt have much time left :| .

don't forget Chris Paul.[/quote:1hlrwdd2]

Deron Williams, Brandon Roy too. I also love me some Derrick Rose. Kobe's still my favorite though.[/quote:1hlrwdd2]

As much as it pained me to watch, Rose was an absolute beast against the Celtics yesterday. At least Rondo made a bit of a statement too. I've been saying this since he was playing 5 minutes a game his rookie season: Rondo is a great player.[/quote:1hlrwdd2]

I was saying that since before he was drafted. Any point guard that grab 22 rebounds in a college game has the athleticism to play at the next level, then add his ridiculous ball handling and speed...

I was at a game in his rookie season that someone on the spurs tripped him and no foul was called. He basically went into beserker mode and scored like 10 points in a row by driving to the basket and then getting steals and doing it again. I knew right then he was going to be great.

Fair enough. I guess I didn't notice the gold chains since I'm pretty sure they don't wear them while playing and are forced to wear suits when going to or leaving a game. I'm not sure what you mean by "acting like rappers."

Whatever, it's clear that you just want to argue. I'm entitled to my opinion, and it makes me happy.[/quote:3m6d6o5h]

Since we're just throwing out names, my favorite non-big name RC, Nicolas Batum. I recognized his name from the draft, but when I saw him play on TV, like the first game of the season, I was impressed. Long, athletic, high energy, defense first, but with a lot of offensive potential, and only 19.

You certainly are. I'm not saying you can't at all. I just don't get it and usually hearing stuff like "it's to hip hop" usually just means "too black" since I don't see how something is too hip hop when they wear team uniforms and suits. Dwight Howard had to leave the bench when he was sitting out a game and was wearing a shirt, tie, and sweater vest.[/quote:1loxumsx]

There are cameras on the players outside of the game...

What a great way to market the league.[/quote:1loxumsx]

You can look across any league and find bad apples, bad use of Judgement. MLB/NFL/NBA/NHL its all there, these people are human too. The argument about gold chains is pretty funny, considering a lot of MLB players have chains on while they play. You also mentioned age, and these young kids with lots of money, Prospect's are subject to this too(see Matt Bush).

I wish people would learn how to connect the dots and use rational logic. I find it humorous that people are coming to the conclusion that I am "anti-gold chains." I am anti the thug culture that is what the NBA is today. Sorry, just how I feel. That's why I watch baseball.

The age argument is actually quite valid. The NBA does NOT have a minor league system. The MLB does. In order for a player to reach the bigs, they must perform, not just in a draft workout. In the NBA, you just have to be drafted in the first round I believe and your guaranteed a roster spot.

Not really.

Still don't understand Thug life being part of the NBA and not the MLB. There are multiple players in the MLB that have done bad things, such as beat their wife, do drugs etc. Same with the NFL and same with the NBA. Its not sport related, its human related. The dots seem to be connecting towards some kind of prejudice to race.

Fair enough. I guess I didn't notice the gold chains since I'm pretty sure they don't wear them while playing and are forced to wear suits when going to or leaving a game. I'm not sure what you mean by "acting like rappers."

Whatever, it's clear that you just want to argue. I'm entitled to my opinion, and it makes me happy.[/quote:pywu339t]

You certainly are. I'm not saying you can't at all. I just don't get it and usually hearing stuff like "it's to hip hop" usually just means "too black" since I don't see how something is too hip hop when they wear team uniforms and suits. Dwight Howard had to leave the bench when he was sitting out a game and was wearing a shirt, tie, and sweater vest.[/quote:pywu339t]

There are cameras on the players outside of the game...

What a great way to market the league.[/quote:pywu339t]

You can look across any league and find bad apples, bad use of Judgement. MLB/NFL/NBA/NHL its all there, these people are human too. The argument about gold chains is pretty funny, considering a lot of MLB players have chains on while they play. You also mentioned age, and these young kids with lots of money, Prospect's are subject to this too(see Matt Bush).[/quote:pywu339t]

In the NBA, you just have to be drafted in the first round I believe and your guaranteed a roster spot.[/quote:pywu339t]

Not really.

Still don't understand Thug life being part of the NBA and not the MLB. There are multiple players in the MLB that have done bad things, such as beat their wife, do drugs etc. Same with the NFL and same with the NBA. Its not sport related, its human related. The dots seem to be connecting towards some kind of prejudice to race.[/quote:pywu339t]

WRONG! They have to go to college for at least one year were alot of top hschool prospects dont pan out.[/quote:3bgx60b8]

Don't forget that the NBA teams are starting to use the NBDL for their rookies too. The Celtics sent their two picks down to play in this league for a lot of the season.

Just wondering, how is it hilarious? It just seems like a way to dismiss another persons points without backing up yours.

I will not watch the NBA. It is not a team sport like how the others are IMO. It seems everyone is just out there to get theirs. Traveling is just ridiculous now. I really like colelge Bball where every game means something and you can tell the players care more. To me it seems like there is more standing around in the NBA as well and not too many people playing defense except in the palyoffs. I also hate how ESPN is all over the Celtics. They sucked two years ago for a reason. They had to trade 8 guys in order to get KG and Ray Allen.
