Somehow I got a new item on my computer today. Up until about a month ago it was the WinAntiVirus2009. When I got that one, usually from MySpace, I would run MalWarebytes' and get rid of it.

But today I got one that whipped my MalWarebytes' database and disabled my malware protection from McAfee. I updated MalWarebytes', when I went to run the program it wouldn't run. I restarted my computer in safe mode, and I started to run my computer and it shut down. I went to another computer and downloaded a new version of MalWarebytes', but I can't uninstall the old one and when I try to open the exe to try to override the old version, it won't open.

So does anyone have any suggestions?

Go to bleepingcomputer and download a copy of ComboFix (it's just an .exe.) Thing is... these malware have started picking up on tat so you need to save it as something other than ComboFix (I name mine AdamFix for working on client computers). Just save it to your desktop and run it. Go ahead and disable all of your other antivirus stuff, too.

Just a tip, though. Ditch McAffee. Go grab the free version of AVG and Windows Defender. McAffee and almost everything made by Symnatec have become jokes when dealing with newer viruses.

Good luck.

(that'll be $50. J/k) :-P

Thanks, that helped. It found something, but didn't kill the problem. But whatever it did get rid of, allowed me to run MalWarebytes', which killed the real problem.

Get a Mac... :D

So I can pay twice to three times as much for my computer and software? Or have a computer that is a pain in the @$$ to upgrade and have to go to speciality stores to do so? Or get a computer that Microsoft has a major stake in?

If I'm going to give microsoft my money, I might as well pay less to do so.

Iv'e had a Mac for 4 years and have never once needed anti-anything... you can argue that they are overpriced, but you can't argue their ease of use and power.

...because no one does anything on a Mac important enough to write a virus for to hack into.

If Apple was at 91% market share and Windows was at 9%, there would be alot more viruses for Apple then there are for Windows. But since it is the other way around, there isn't much incentive for people to create viruses for Apple.
