Woot!!!

Pittsburgh will play host to the Capitals in Heinz and Calgary will be playing Montreal in McMahon Stadium in Cow-Town!! Huge news and i will be attending the game at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. Kind of an odd choice that Calgary is playing Montreal, would have thought it would be Edmonton or Vancouver, but i guess they want to market it around the old rivalry they had when both teams met in the Stanley Cup finals two times in a four year period.

Very cool, but I was hoping it would be Vancouver vs Calgary.

Oh i totally agree and would make perfect sense. Neither team has been in a Winter Classice before. The two teams have a very strong rivalry, one of the biggest in the league. Other than Calgary/Montreal playing each other for those two Stanley Cups, back in the 1980's, the two teams dont really have a rivalry or much history against each other at all. The game will still be popular and sell out in Calgary im sure, but could you imagine the Hype of this game if it was Calgary/Vancouver? Think about how many Canuck fans from BC would drive out to Calgary to watch this game. Not to mention the old timers game would be insane as well. Calgary/Montreal just doesn't make sense and thats what 95% of the people on the internet are saying.

Exactly. It just would have made so much more sense, awesome rivalry and two teams who have not been in a Classic before. As the kids say it would have been sick, off the hook, the bomb... I'm also surprised that Toronto wasn't picked over Montreal, if they wanted an original 6 team it would make more sense to have Toronto, they haven't been a part of a Classic yet either and have a huge fan base across Canada as well. Anyway it will still be cool and it will be awesome for you to attend.

Well at least the Capital are in a Winter Classic game. Some teams will NEVER get a chance to play in one.

I'm glad my parents have season tickets to the Flames. This will be one hot ticket next season.

I do believe that the tickets are pretty dang expensive for a single game. Not only that, but I think that DC is a little too far south to be counted on to be cold enough for an outdoor game.

I can't wait to see what the jerseys look like. Though it pains me to say it, I really liked the Pens jerseys from last time. Unfortunately, I was really underwhelmed by the Flyers jerseys last year so I didn't even bother to pick one up.

Id imagine Calgary/Montreal will look like this. These pictures are from the 1986 Stanley Cup finals...

Mike Vernon and Claude Lemieux

Al Macinnis and the hated Claude Lemieux once again

It would be cool if Calgary/Montreal did something totally different though
