I also think along different lines. If Altuve starts sucking in those seasons, the Astros could recoup some of his salary by making him a draw -- a player who Astros fans will come to the park to watch because he's a fan favorite if it's no longer his playing ability.

as for other players, definitely concur with Arenado and goldy. If it's no longer for playing ability, it's for fan favorite ability.
