Overseas EBay shipping question.

Hey fellas I'm sure this has been asked before but here it goes again. I have a decent card listed on eBay and received a message this morning asking if I would ship to Hong Kong. I dont mind shipping overseas especially if it will bring me top dollar for my card. So the question is, is it worth it? I have shipped there way in the past but I'm sure its different now. What are the things to do or to look out for? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

If it's under $250, and the buyer is willing to pay you $30 extra to get it shipped express with tracking, I'd say yes.

If it's over $250, I'd say no, since you need a service than can get an electronic signature...which USPS does NOT provide (Registered gets you a paper signature, which does nothing for you in the event of an ebay/paypal claim), while Fedex/UPS/DHL all charge two arms, a leg, and a kidney for such a service.

I sent a $1500 card thru USPS registered/insured to Japan... I was going to send it Global Express, but the clerk said I didn't need to.. If you send it registered, someone has to sign for it at every stop.. Just like here in the US.. Here is the tracking info..

So if it reaches its destination someone has to sign for it, and if a claim would be opened does such signature side with the seller? And how much did that cost you pin?

I want to say it was under $30 for the Ichiro and under $20 for the Gretzky

I'm at work, but I have the receipt from the post office at home.. I'll look at it and show send you a scan later..

OK, I found the receipt for the Ichiro ($1500) card I shipped to Japan.. I sent it Express Mail International Guaranteed..and I could track it online..


$38 EMI
$5.35 insurance
----------------
$43.35 Total


The Gretzky ($750) card I shipped to Canada, I sent it First Class International parcel, registered, and insured..

$3.45 FCI
$11.75 Registered

$15.20 Total..
