the first call i think should have been 2 minutes.
this one i have no idea what he was thinking. he desreves a suspension for this.
it was just stupid there was no reason to stick his leg out on that play. its his own fault for this injury.
sadly he should have alot of time to get it together

Reckless play by Ovechkin. Its a good thing Gleason isn't hurt. Hopefully AO realizes he just can't hit like that. Sometimes you are the windshield, sometimes you are the bug.
I certainly don't hope Ovie is hurt too bad but I also hope he wasn't faking it to make it seem like he didn't lead with his knee. I felt like I was watching a replay of what he did to Gonchar in the Playoffs last year. he needs to sit a while and realize he can't go after opponents like this anymore.

He really is trying to be the tough guy and the key goal scorer.
If I was the Caps brass, I'd have a serious talk with him because he is locked up until 2050 or whatever crazy deal they gave him.
I understand being scrappy and overly aggressive, but the suspension-styled cheap shots should be reserved for the goon squad...not the star.
To me, guys like Mario Lemieux and Gordie Howe were the best at this they would kill you with the scoring, and if you went after them, you'd get hurt. Right now, Ovechkin is trying too hard to not be just a goal scorer.

wow that is just as i said before stupid. he dosent need to take cheap shots to be arguably the best player in the league. as a caps fan ovechkin lost alot of respect from me. hopefuly he learned his leason and will play alot smarter.pghbuccos said:Ovechkin skated in the Caps morning practice and said he should be able to play Thursday. of course the NHL will decide that. here is a pic of Ovie leading wit his knee...

The NHL has announced that Ovechkin will be suspended for two games for the knee on knee hit.
here is a link to a video of reporters asking Ovie questions before the suspension was announced. I didn't know he and Corvo have had problems in the past. does anyone know of past incidents between the two? also he says that he is not going to change the way he plays. I agree that it's fine that he is aggressive and hits people but he needs to stop taking cheap shots.
