I recently bought this card and received it today. After looking it over, I realized that there was no numbering on the back. I contacted the seller (cardboardpimping), and he said that it was a replacement from Topps, and that he contacted Topps and Beckett, who said it was legitimate. He also said that it was in the description, which I doubted because I looked it over before. I looked again very closely, and it is there, hidden in a paragraph describing his shipping services...

Well I just found out that cardboardpimping is apparently a known forger. Any suggestions on what I should do are very appreciated. Thank you.

If I remember correctly, this card is not one of the 50 originally produced, though. I could be wrong about this. Thanks

I hate to say it, but I think you are out of luck. It is an authentic card and he did disclose that it was not serial numbered. In any case, best of luck with whatever you do!

First of all, I have lost a ton of faith in Topps over this unnumbered parallel fiasco that has emerged of late. It really pisses me off.

In your case, I think you have a shot. The title, "PABLO SANDOVAL 2006 BOWMAN CHROME RC GOLD REFRACTOR /50", implies that there are 50 of these. That is just flat out incorrect. Topps produced 50 SERIAL NUMBERED versions, while the print run of these bogus, unnumbered copies is anyone's guess. Try the paypal claim, the worst that can happen is you lose, which makes you no worse off than you currently are.

Yes, semantics could come into play here...if Topps is only calling serial numbered cards 'Gold Refractors' the implication is that those without serial numbering are called something completely different (crap? Just kidding).

I would do what has been suggested and if you don't want the card file a claim that it is not as described. It has /50 right in the title and this card is not /50. I bet you will win.

This isn't the only one that is like that. I know I've seen BigBoydSports selling a '06 Bowman Sterling Black Refractor Josh Johnson that's un-numbered and there were a couple '07 Bowman Chrome Lincecum Auto Refractors that were un-numbered pop up on the 'Bay too.

Lot's of back dooring going on at Topps recently (w/these and the Tosni's ... )

The Tosonis are a completely different scenario in my opinion. The un-numbered cards were created for replacement purposes, and would have been stamped with a SN if one was sent in damaged. The Tosoni's were completely legit that seem to have been lost or stolen in transit back to topps. No way Topps gave all of them to someone knowing that there were 1000+ redemptions to be filled

The best thing you can do is stay away from these sellers who are auctioning these off. They know they have backdoored stuff, do not believe the BS they are apouting to you. Good luck OP trying to get your money back, it's situations like this that make me want to get away from the hobby.

Chris I talked with BGS about these cards. They said they will grade them but they will put no number on the slab if I remember correctly.

I went through it twice and didn't see where it was noted that in the description. I just kept seeing how he said he specializes in serial numbered cards. Where in the world is it in the description?

Edit: Oh, I see it now. Wow that is very shady. Quite honestly, if he is going off of Beckett (which we all know he was being shady on purpose), you may have a claim if you can prove to paypal that the Beckett states that these cards are serial numbered and this one is not.

It took me a few reads before I finally found where it is mentioned. Good luck with the whole process.

so what, just because they would grade them doesn't make them real (Topps standards). the story is bs, i bet if you contact topps they wouldn't say it is legit, i bet it's a stolen card from their replacements pile, they number them to match the returned card, no number means the process wasn't completed. You should contact Topps and see what they say, if they say the card wasn't officially released like that the seller lied in his description, either way open a snad claim right after.
