Kind of makes it look sad and lonely, doesn't it?
Love the vest.
Apparel of choice for pack searchers. Its like a mullet, they think it will help them blend into the crowd because of the popularity of said mullet, or in our case, vest, but in reality.... well, you see the result... sore thumb.

A vest with a mullet is a horse of a different color however.

I'm sorry guys.....it was me. I pulled a Randy Wolf Jersey, Brad Lidge Jersey, and a Bowman Scout Auto of Hugh Jass.....Once again, I am very sorry and please don't make fun of the way I look. I use my money at a thrift store to buy my clothes so I can have enough money to buy retail packs....is this a crime? Please take my picture off of here before I take you to court. So does anyone want my Hugh Jass?

Well, I didn't have my cell phone with me at my Target recently so I just pulled out my sketch pad...believe me, he was a little p.o.'d when he saw me drawing him so I took off and ran out the store after I threw my pen at him.

Honestly, with how dumb some of these employees are---

why not just close the entire retail box, and walk to the register?

Honestly Target doesn't care much about the pack searchers. The cards are distributed and mostly maintained by outside companies, as long as the sales don't fall Target won't so a thing about it. They see it as a customer purchasing merchandise, not a person killing the odds in a box. Target has a policy on collectables where they won't search for certain items in the backroom or in inventory for a customer, in order to make it fair, but the customer is free to search for themselves if the items are on the shelf. Since the cards are on the shelf and eveyone has the same chance at searching the box Target believes that it's fair. Remember there's nothing illegal about pack searching, it's like someone choosing to purchase an appliance that is in a box that isn't dinged up instead of the one in the box with a hole in it. Pack searching is a problem for the hobby, but not the stores stocking the items, Topps, Upper Deck and Donruss need to solve the problem.

Plus that Target looks like an older Target probably due for a remodel soon, the card section looks small.

There are two Targets near me where someone has been opening Allen and Ginter blasters, removing all the packs through a slit in the top of the package and replacing the blaster boxes on the display. An unsuspecting buyer might buy a blaster box only to find it empty. The shrinkwrap is intact, except for the slit in the top edge. Reported it to Target twice, showing them the boxes. The courtesy clerks were unimpressed to say the least. I even explained what was going on to an assistant manager, but she just said okay. Went back a third day and found two more like the others on the shelf, but figured if Target was okay with theft, that is their business. At another Target down the road, same thing. I don't even look at blasters anymore at Target. Sigh.

Hey, that sounds like my target!! :D

I've had problems with people puchasing opened retail boxes, pull out the best card, resealing the packs with glue, then returning them back to target for a full cash refund. Pissed me off one year when I found an opened box of 2005-6 hockey upper deck. I opened them all and no sp rookies which were supposed to be one per four packs. Also all the packs had been resealed with a glue stick. Some jerk-off got all the rookies, a jersey, and all his money back. Obviously the employees have no idea how to detect an opened and resealed pack- they aren't trained to look for this sort of deception.

I even suggested that they look at security tapes, watch for someone picking up blasters and taking them somewhere in the store (bathroom? ick!) and then returning boxes to shelf. To quote from a favorite movie, they looked at me "like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears". I felt like I was talking to a wall. Even told them that each box was $20 a shot. Nothing but crickets and tumbleweeds...

You have guys who are being paid $8 an hour who have no personal vested financial interest in their store. That's why it's so easy for people to get away with it.

One solution is to have the store manager walk up to the guy to ask him if he needs help. I was reading the stated odds on the back of the retail packs one time, especially for the thicker packs, and the manager came up to me and asked if I needed any help. I told him I was doing ok, and continued to do my research without getting harassed. I'm sure some of these pack searchers would be discouraged by a manager interacting with them. The bottom line, though, I have never seen anyone get kicked out of a target for searching packs. I mean, as long as they make a purchase and don't physically open the packs, what else can target do? Customers are just studying the retail odds to make an informed purchase decision- where's the crime in that? Sure, sometimes it takes an hour to read that small fine print, but when you got the time, where's the crime?

Target security is probably doing something about it, but it takes time. All a team member can do is thank you fro pointing out the theft and report it to assets protection(AP). From there the AP team with research the situation and hope to catch the individual. If the theft is massive they will include the help of the local police department. Remember the individual has to return to the store, be recongnized by team members and AP, and has to try to steal more items in order for AP or the PD to catch them in the act and detain them.

Tough to blame the team members for lack of total interest, if it's a large issue at the store ask to see and LOD, "Leader on Duty", preferably the ETL, "Exectutive Team Lead" of AP, and talk to them about the theft.
