People still buy panini products?
Not me, and their football products suck also.
thats the funniest thing about this new business model.

they are putting out inferior products, and now are making it harder and more expensive to acquire said products.

that NBA license must be effing them hard. hope for their sake, there is not a lockout.

another question. doesn't the foreign market help drive basketball sales?

100% guaranteed that there is a lockout. I used to love Donruss back when they had BB and FB, but I don't think I've opened 3 boxes of Panini and probably won't after the fiasco with redemptions. Oh well, good luck Panini.

The Upper Deck program has worked so far, and I hope the Panini program will work as well, but they need to improve some of their product lines if they are going to be able to enforce it.

Have to give UD props for program. Has worked well. Look at Goodwin. Maybe slowly UD gets back under it's feet and becomes a player again. Panini is smart trying something like this, I'm sure Topps will follow. Nice way to to have stuff going through the dealers and help weed out the scammers.
Goodwin is popular because:

1) It is very limited in production
2) It has exciting cards people want
3) It's not another topps product

How exactly is the UD program working?
Have people been over-paying for hockey products?

Topps tried this years ago, I doubt they go back to it.
Topps is king of retail, they have retail out before hobby on lots of new releases.
The problem with Panini is their products are not good. Tons and tons of redemptions too!

A manufacturer cannot force anyone to sell something for a certain price, but they can stop you from buying if you are caught selling below the MAP. MAP and better distribution is very badly needed in this industry as it allows for a healthier marketplace, but the companies also have to make a decent product. I think this program will actually evenentually force them to do so...

There have only been 2 products under the new UD program: Upper Deck Football and Exquisite Football. I had a much better sell through on both products due to the Upper Deck Program being in place.

How do you think this will be enforced? is the P police going to hit the streets and checkout every hobby store? The price might be posted but how many times does something really sell for that price.. advertise it for $387, but really sell it for $360.
