What are your thoughts on Panini's first premium basketball product? $1075-$1100 a case seems like a low price to me considering 15 boxes and how well basketball sells worldwide.

I'm not sure about that. Maybe it's just the people that I have been searching or what I have been looking at, but to me Basketball has the worst market. If it is not Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, or whoever is the rookie of the moment you can barley give the stuff away. I know you can say that about all the sports, but it seems to be even more so in basketball. That's also reflected in the fact that just about every release in b-ball can now be purchased at a fraction of the msrp it came out at.

Limited looks like a nice product. That has been the case with most Donruss products, as the breaks are varied, good checklists, using patches......personally I probably will not be buying any basketball this year because of the market.
For ex- I got a box of Threads, and it would be what I consider to be a good break, probably even above average. I hit a 1st rd. pick auto - Holiday. An all-star caliber player auto #'d 99 - Danny Granger. An elite Gu'd - Dwight Howard, and a patch #'d 25 of a future star - O.j.Mayo....Now I do not bust products intending to sell everything, I do it because I collect and it is fun and I also don't expect to make money (really to get 50% "value" back seems good at this point).....but it is rather disheartening to see you can have what most would call a good break and then find out I'd be lucky to get $20 for those 4 cards.

Sorry for the long rant that may not even be on topic...just something that has been on my mind recently.

Honestly, you have to look at the specific product you're opening. I don't see much action/want for Threads cards or R&S cards. Its a base product (maybe a bit higher since Panini is the base product). I'm a UCLA grad and Holiday doesn't excite me much whereas Collison and Westbrook were proven studs on the court. The only Granger card that sells for anything is his Exquisite RC. And memorabilia cards w/o autos are are ho-hum on ebay. $20 doesn't surprise me at all.

Now that National Treasures is being released in July (so I hear), expect the first true premium basketball card to be released. HOWEVER, since UD still has a collegiate license I'm 99% sure that they will continue releasing Exquisite; similar to their latest release with all those auto'd RCs of players in their alma mater's jersey.
