I think the biggest news out of all of this is for Basketball, a sport in which Donruss has nothing in. If Panini can make some of the DOnruss products into NBA versions, I will feal somewhat relieved. I still hate UD being out of an NBA license though.

I agree in that although I dont like that UD being out of a license I hope Panini can bring some of the Donruss stuff to basketball as that would be sweet. The verdict is still out for me as I want to see what they do when they release their first few products.

Isn't all Donruss product use stickers?

For the most part. National Treasures uses on card autos. I believe there are a few subsets running around with on card as well. Basically a Topps type of manufacturer.

I dont like that either but if that's all we have then I guess we have to deal with it. Keep in mind though that I am one that does not get to upset about sticker autos as if used correctly can look semi nice. I figure if I do not like how they use their stickers I will stick to older on card auto's. Also If Upper deck decided to make unlicensed card with on card autos i will still buy thier stuff regardless of the license.

Yeah there is a chance UD will make an unlicensed product i guess. I know in Hockey when UD got the exclusive in 05, a company called In The Game, who lost their license, continued to make Hockey products and they have stayed competitive and really popular. I actually don't mind sticker autos either, i prefer hard signed obviously, but if the sticker works well with the overall design of the card, i will purchase them. Who knows, maybe UD will start inserting some MJ or LBJ autos into Football or Hockey products, similar to what they did with Tiger this year. To be honest though, i would be totally happy if no one produced Kobe, MJ or Lebron autos for the next couple years and let the market absorb what is out there so far and inturn make these autos more valuable and popular again.

I like that idea and to take it one step further once they started to to put those guys back into products they could switch them out with other stars like Wade, Bird and Magic and give their autos a break.
