I just realized that I haven't made a mailday post in a long time, so this will serve as a best of the best mailday post for me for about the past 4 months. As I usually do, I'll try and add comments to make it more interesting, and yours are always appreciated.
The jersey version of this card is one of my favorites, and I try and buy it whenever I see it. I knew this card existed, but this is the first one that I've seen (15 produced) in several years of collecting the jumbo Flair patches. I think the ending price was $285, which I think is pretty good for patch size that's comparable to the 2005 Absolute TOTT patches. I bought my first Ted Williams patch 2 years ago for about the same price, and that was just a small patch and bat swatch. His patch cards are getting more affordable every year.
I already have both the Puckett and Ryan for my set, but I like the set so much I buy doubles of any nice patches I see.
I posted a month ago saying that I just passed the 50% mark on this tough 2003 Timeless Treasures set, and birdsfan85 was kind enough to let me know he had this Rizzuto card (/10) that he was willing to sell for a pretty low price. I appreciate that he didn't try and hold the card for ransom because I needed it for the set.
These are some pretty neat Ripken patches, especially the letter one.
These barrel autos look great in person and now I know why there was such a fuss over them when the set came out.
I think I'm down to about 5 more guys that I need and I'll have all the vintage players from this set. Unfortunately, the serial numbering doesn't help.
This one had a real high BIN, which may have scared off people. It's a neat set, and only the second one I've ever seen (I bought a Killebrew last year).
Banks only has this button /4 and a Leaf Limited /6, so I'm lucky to have one.
Burbank had this Berra in their store for $300 ever since they started uploading thousands of cards. I've been eyeing it, and when Bing went up to 10% I decided to buy it. It might be more than what it would sell for, but I've never seen another and I doubt I'll ever sell it.
I usually try and hold off buying vintage patches unless it's really unique, but I decided to buy this Snider because the Sterling quad patches usually have at least one boring patch and this one has four nice ones.
I think I won this first Jackie off Ebay for about $350. The second appeared about three weeks later from the same seller with a $450 BIN. I didn't want to pay $450, but I figured with Bing and Ebay bucks the final price would be pretty close to what it would sell for. Plus, I think it's one of his bigger patch swatches (besides 2005 Sweet Spot Classics), and it's a very unique one to boot.
One of my few modern player patch pick-ups, I figured it was about time Johan joined my collection.
Normally I don't buy patches with sticker autos because I don't like them and it raises the price of the card, but this one was about a $40-45 BIN and the inscription was enough to get me to buy it.
I have other Clemente patches that are numbered much lower, but this is one of the better swatches that I've seen of this card. I haven't even tried to win any of the others, but this was a $125 BIN and the patch was unique.
I bought this Fox awhile ago, but I'm not sure if I paid too much. It was a high BIN, and I offered $130. The patch isn't that interesting, but it is red and Fox patches are hard to come by.
I bought the first of these after an FCB member alerted me to it on Ebay. I never would have seen it otherwise, and won it for about $10. I found the second on Ebay a few months ago for a $20 BIN, and decided to buy it since having two would be pretty unique.
