Ebay has a new dispute system, they are actually handling disputes now. Call them up, the number is on top of most eBay pages, including MY EBAY.

You clearly state the sticker is F'ed up and the guy is complaining of the sticker that you described perfectly.

I know it has already been said, but this is so stupid. The card is graded an 8... and is STILL an 8. It's not like the card changed INSIDE the slab. The buyer got what they paid for, simple as that.

Knowing ebay/paypal, they will side with the buyer and take an extra $100 out of your account to ease his mental anguish.

Ebay is trying it's best to run the little guy seller off of there. There are some bigtime sellers with hundreds of negative feedbacks over the last several weeks/months, but ebay doesn't care because those fees get paid. There are some bigtime sellers that shill their auctions, but ebay doesn't care because those fees get paid. There are bigtime sellers who sell fake patches and autographs for huge sums of money, but ebay doesn't care because those fees get paid. Eventually, ebay would like a site full of BINs from retailers/overstockers and BIN/auctions from nothing but the high volume sellers. But they don't realize if they piss off all of the little guys/sellers, the majority of the $10-25 buyers will have nothing to purchase.

I heard rumors of Google shopping for some cutting edge auction programming, but that was when microsoft was trying to buy yahoo. Imagine a world where ebay was the second place auction site.

I'd do what you can to fight it. Also, if you open a new account while your old account has any open issues, you better make sure your new account cannot be linked to your old one in any way, or your new account will get locked. Trust me, the EXACT thing happened to me and my original PayPal account. The worst thing, and most confusing, was that they wouldn't allow me to use the money in my new account to pay what I owed on my old one, even though they linked the two.

That is what I will do. Once this last transfer goes through, it's getting shut down for either 45 days so he can't file a dispute (he can but won't get anything), or I'll just make up a new one if I need to sell something).

The thing that sucks is I just paid $915 for a 4-week summer class I just took ::facepalm:: , $200 for a new phone because I lost my old one ::facepalm:: , and $30 for a 8 month old parking ticket ::facepalm:: . The only reason why I sold the card was becuase I needed the money to help pay for this crap.

Well, I'd still fight it if I were you, but if you're going to go through with your plan, do what I said. I mean no connection between the accounts, names, addresses, phone#'s, credit cards, bank accouns...nothing. That buyer does buy quite a big of highend stuff, they've contacted me about stuff I've had up, bid on stuff I've had up, might even have bought my KiKi Cuyler cut auto.

I didn't realize it was your auction at the time but I debated bidding on the card. Ultimately, I didn't bid because of the damage....that is clearly noted in the auction description. It is what is it...I doubt the buyer took the time to read your description.

This is where I worry. Let's say a claim is filed, paypal freezes the balance of the transaction, and ultimately decides in the buyers favor (incorrect, yes - we all agree - but it happens). Now the buyer gets his money back and still has the card. At that point, all you have is the word of what is obviously a less-than-ethical buyer that he'll send your card back to you. You no longer have any leverage (i.e. his money) and thus he has no incentive to send the card back, and you're out $350 AND the card.

Because of this, and yes, it happens, whenever I get an ******* like this buyer (please list his ID by the way so I can block him) I just tell him to return the card and I'll refund upon receipt. At the end of the day, it's better to take a small hit and be 100% sure you can re-sell than be s.o.l. completely.

When PayPal sides with the buyer, the buyer has to send the card/s before the refund is given. So, if the buyer wants his refund, then he'll have to send the card back with delivery confirmation (in this case, signature confirmation). The only thing he could try is the "empty package scam." That's why, I'd recommend the seller to open the package on camera to prevent PayPal from refunding him and keeping the card.

I looked at his left FB for seller. He haven't gave a negative to anyone past year. So I think is good to just take back the card and resell it. Is probably buyer remorse after seeing the sig crease but it happen. Why bother create another account and have to rebuilt your reputation just because of couple of incident.
To avoid any problem do put your new phone to good use. Video yourself opening the package. So no false or empty package can get the buyer free card & $. Do fight this claim but if U don't want your account $ frozen best to return and than refund.

It won't matter, paypal will reclaim the funds from your account. Best bet is to offer a full refund as soon as you receive the card back. I never, EVER bite on that partial refund BS, it's a load of crap. All or nothing, no in between.

Not true at all once your paypal account is closed they will not get any funds from you.

I asked the seller what kind of refund he was looking for, and here is his response:

WHAT HAVE YOU DECIDED TO DO LET ME KNOW BEFORE I TAKE MY NECCASARY STEPS IN THIS MATTER SORRY JUST NOT HAPPY WITH THE SIGNATURE ON THIS CARD WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT TO RESELL 75.00 REFUND TO MY PAYPAL: ******** or we can go the other way with full dispute full refund and appropriate feedback you must always give complete details when listing cards not partial descriptions.

I cannot close my account just yet. The last of my funds have been transferred out of my account, but I can't close it just yet. The bank has to post it before I can officially close it (I have tried to close already).

I have a pretty well written response, but I'm getting a little curious now. I wouldn't mind seeing what paypal would actually do if he filed a claim. Oh, what to do...

I'd call PayPal and describe the situation in full, including the fact that the card's condition is CLEARLY craded and there was a CLEAR picture in the auction and now the guy wants $75 back. I'd ask them what I could do to protect myself.

THing is... if he files for a full refund, can't you file an NPB or just withdraw the transaction through eBay and say you both agreed to cancel the transaction?

I'm not sure if you can file a NPB in this case, but I am fairly certain you can agree to cancel the transaction to help recover FV fees. I've sent an email to paypal customer support, and of course I haven't heard from them yet.
