Paypal cracking down on the gifts to business accts

The "gift" thing has gotten out of hand. I am a member of an autograph collecting site. Almost all of the sellers list their prices as "$60 delivered via PayPal GIFT". Sellers use to just say "add $3.00 to cover PayPal fees". I don't like the gift payment to a seller because if the item is no good you have no recourse (which I remember a member here starting a thread about this). I tell sellers I will NOT pay via gift. Paypal is protection for the buyer, why not use it?

Yea, I only do it for friends, and board members if the deal is under $15. If it is a board member and there is a problem, they have their reputation at risk, so rarely will they hurt that over a few $'s.

I agree. I have absolutely no problem using gifts for members of this board. Members have spent alot of time and energy building their reputations on these boards and would not throw it away for a "gift" payment.

I've used the gift (sending and receiving) and have had no issues. They've all been transactions under $15. Hell, if I screwed someone on this site by that, Chris has my home address and home/cell # if he really had to take action.

Other than that, the rest of the transactions were "normal".

I have sent money as a personal gift via paypal and it got "rejected" by paypal as it went through but then I got a refund for the amount I paid amount a couple of minutes later. Seller explained that he had a paypal business account so that was likely why it had gotten bounced....

I have also sent payment for a card with the title Happy Birthday! and "son't spend it all in one place!" as the description- mostly as a joke but I figured threads like these would be right around the corner...
