I recently made a sale on Ebay on the 26th. It was for an instant-access password. The buyer pays same day and I send him the password. He leaves positive feedback for me saying "A+". On the 27th he files a paypal dispute claiming it was an unauthorized transaction and Paypal places a hold on the money. A case is opened and in the area where you can present evidence, I provide a link to the auction page and to my feedback page showing the positive feedback he left. The buyer provided no evidence or statements whatsoever.

A week later, on the 5th, Paypal makes their judgment and they find in favor of the buyer.

I honestly don't know what to think.

**And if this is in the wrong section feel free to move it to General. I just wasn't sure.**

If he claimed item not received I would see your point because I couldn't prove I sent the password but he said it was an unauthorized transaction. That's what is so upsetting about this.

This happened to me, but for a card I sold. Paypal doesn't care if positive feedback was left. Their excuse is "the buyer might have left positive feedback by mistake". Those are the exact words I got on the phone.

"unauthorized transaction" could mean someone else used his paypal or credit card. I have also had this happen but I get the item back. Sometimes kids use their parents account to buy things.

That could be what happened. I would just think a buyer would first send the seller a message to try to get a refund instead of just filing a claim after one day. Or at least explain what happened in the Paypal case, not just file a claim out of the blue and win.

This is exactly why when I sell a redemption I don't email the number... Even if you email the number and then mail the card they could refuse delivery, and you have no proof of delivering the item.

If someone wanted to be extremely shady though I guess they could open and take the redemption code and return it, not sure how Paypal would side in that case.

thats horrible! contact the company redeeming the code (since you still have the code you should be able to verify its status) tell them that you believe you have been frauded and if they could forward the redeemers information (ip address, physical address, name, etc etc) to paypal it would be greatly appreciated. provide them with the case number and contact paypal to let them know there is more information coming. if you are being robbed and the company providing the item has a heart you should be able to provide a trail for paypal to reverse their decision. it will take some work and some persistence...

I think I'd contact the company too. Though I don't know how likely they'd be to give someone's info, so I'd just play dumb. I'd call and say I'm trying to put in my redemption number and it won't work - I'm guessing you still have the physical card with the code, which you can offer to provide to them as proof it's yours.

Not sure what would happen in a case like this, but I think there's a chance they would contact whomever redeemed the code.....if confronted it would basically force them to turn back over the code or admit that they bought it and essentially prove the Paypal claim was B.S.

Though sadly even if it played out in that manner, Paypal sucks so hard, I guess it still wouldn't mean they'd see fit to reverse their decision.

Did you try entering the code into the system to see if it was redeemed?

See, this is the garbage that bothers me. Shouldn't their "investigation" show if it was an accident or not and not just make a decision on a "maybe"? There has to be some sort of law they are breaking.
