I'm experimenting with paypal shipping right now and its about 60 cents cheaper per package. Is there anything I need to know on shipping so I don't run into any problems

the one i just did is in a 4 x 7 envelope but just a regular top loader are they going to bend it usually I make the package thick

also how do I figure out the ounces

you can put in 5 cards and make it 1 ounce or 3 ounces, the post office doesn't care.
I have shipped 100s of packages this year, didn't weigh one of them.

Here are a few pointers:
- Make sure the package is at least 3/4" thick. I usually put in a small piece of rolled up bubble wrap or a packing peanut or two to make sure. I also wrap the card (in a top-loader & team bag) in a printed shipping invoice. If it's not 3/4" thick, sometimes USPS will bump it to Priority and the buyer will get it with a few dollars postage due.
- A card in a top-loader will usually be 1-2 ounces. I usually put 2 to be safe. A graded card is usually 3-4 ounces depending on whether it's PSA/BGS/other. They may not always check weight much, but I sure don't want to risk the buyer receiving it with postage due over a few extra cents.

only thing really and have been shipping with paypal since they started it. The major thing is anything 250 and over needs sig confirmation. That is with anypaypal transaction anyways. Even if using dc and it says delivered if not signed for you lose.. the 3/4" is if you have an a-hole po guy. Think I had one issue once with a lady when I lived in Buffalo then I gave her a piece of my mind and it never came up again. No worries on that really. i ship cards in ultra pros all the time and never get any flack

I wouldn't just blindly send out packages. If the PO guys notice they seem off from what you paid for, they will weight them. A majority of packages do slide through, but all it takes is one guy doing his job to the T, and you have a nasty letter from a buyer about how he had postage due. 1 card is usually 1.6 ounces I believe, so pay for 2 ounces.(Always round up when shipping to be safe, it's only a few cents more)
You usually don't have to have the package 3/4", but like wheeler said, some PO guys might check. Just throw a packing peanut in. They don't weight enough to really change the overall weight of your package, and will give it the necessary thickness. I never do it though, and have never had any trouble.
Don't put tape over the bar code on the shipping label. They state this somewhere in their shipping guidelines, and for good reason. It could make it unscannable.

I received a package just the other day.....20 cards all in individual toploaders wrapped in bubble wrap in a bubble mailer.....he put 1 ounce for shipping. No problems.
While I don't recommend that, if you put 5-7 ounces no one will say anything. I don't look to rip off the post office like some do...I think I paid $7 for shipping on that package too......but something reasonable will never ever come into question.
