Pedro Baez and Dee Gordon Contenders Redemptions...

Just got an email from Panini this morning saying,

"Dear Valued Customer

The selected time frame you have chosen when the redemption cards were submitted has passed and we are still waiting on the autographs from those particular players. The replacement cards for the unfulfilled redemption cards will be mailed within the next couple weeks. Thank you for your patience and have a great day!"

I wouldnt have thought this was a big deal a few months ago, but now that many consider Gordon as a legit prospect, I am a little disappointed since this would be his only RC Auto, and now it is being replaced. It will also leave a hole in my Contenders set if they ever do get made.

I received the same message and I told them I will continue to wait. I hope they get them back. How hard can it be for minor league players to sign some stickers. ::facepalm::

Dee must not like signing a bunch of stickers

I have 3 Gordon's and 3 Baez pending. Disappointing thing is that when I met Dee early in the Midwest Leagues season he had said that he signed a bunch of stickers already so I was hopeful they would be redeemed sometime during the season. Guess not.

I have no idea what would be an fair substitute for each.

I'd do what was suggested (contact Pannini & request to wait longer) as the Dee will not net you a replacement of his future worth (I think his stuff is underpriced as of now, not sure on Baez as I'm not a follower of his). I was curious if this instance has ever occurred where a redemption auto goes unfulfilled but the next year, or later on in the same year, the same player has an auto card released with a different company? IMO that would seem pretty peculiar being that what if the competing company had something to do with the player not signing thier item's the first go-round... Example: Say Topps see's that Devaris looks to be a solid prospect & they begin kicking themselves for not signing him to an autograph contract. They then realize that thier window of opportunity has remained open though seeing that he turns out as a redemption in thier competitor's product (they then privately contact Dee & offer a larger sum of money if he in turn doesn't fulfill his autograph contract with Donruss/Pannini & signs thier next B.Chrome product instead; so that Topps will have the first & only autograph available for Dee). I know this is against the law but it is very possible that this could occur:| :? And to clarify, I am not saying this would happen or is going to happen here in this instance, I am just curious if the scenario has ever played out where a player had redemption's, didn't sign, & then later that year or the following year that player signs with another company (the whole while never fulfilling thier initial auto obligation to the first company)...?

I know, I know, it has conspiracy all over it but it is an interesting idea & is very possible.
