I disagree with all that. That play was not necessary. It was not instantaneous or almost instantaneous. Not a dirty play, just stupid and uncalled for.

That is DEFINATELY close enough to warrant a collision. You said 20 ft? That's like 8 ft at full speed.

Don't un-necessarily bash Cameron.

You're wrong.

I'll bash Cameron if I want to. Even though I am not and never have. Unless he played for the Dodgers at some point of which I am not aware.

Right before Quintero catches the ball. Cameron has a perfect view of the play in front of him.

Quintero already has the ball.

The important thing is that in 30 plate appearances Mike Cameron is batting .120 against Matt Cain with 9 SO.

I'm not sure what's stupid or uncalled for - that's how you're taught to play the game.

And one more thing...

What did you want Cameron to do?

At full speed.....

Slide.

Not trying to pick a fight with you but slide into what? How the hell was he supposed to be safe sliding. At that point all Q would have had to do is fall on him.At least knocking into him may have caused the ball to come loose at some point therefore scoring a run.

Yeah baby I loves me some smash mouth baseball.
That was one hell of a play at the plate. If you stand there and
block the plate your ass is going to get rocked. Clean play all the way.

We'll never know if he could have slid home safely. But he was thrown out running over the catcher. Also once Quintero caught that ball from Pence Mike Cameron is out 99 times out of 100.

I'm not picking a fight either. Just discussion. I just do not think that was a good play at that point in the game/season.

Seems you have never played the game. Look at the picture again. the catcher is clearly up the line
5-6 feet from the plate and standing in the path the runner is to take, so Cameron has every right to knock his ass out
and he almost did. LOL

So I don't know what your point is! :)

You don't know what my point is? I'm slightly confused by your comment as well. Straight out of left field. You've probably overlooked some of the posts I've made. Which is common, let me clarify. I never said Cameron has no right to make that play. I never bashed Cameron. I've only said it was an uncalled for and stupid play.

Do you really think I've never played baseball? ::facepalm::

You play ball like a girl! ;)

Wow! What a play to hang on to the throw. Cameron has no choice but to try to run over Quintero. Quintero is in the process of catching the ball maybe 10 feet up the line. Sliding is not an option because of the distance to home and the fact that Quintero is directly in his path. If Quintero bobbles the throw at all, Cameron is going to knock it loose. Even Quintero said it was the right play because he was blocking the plate.

This isn't two 12-year-olds playing Little League...

That hit by Cameron was uncalled for. Regardless of the score he was out by at least 20 feet.

Stupid and uncalled for?

Cameron made a great attempt and if you really think that the runner is out 99% of the time on that play you never played contact sports. VERY FEW catchers would have been able to hold on to that ball. Hell, NFL receivers that are wearing full pads can barely hold on to a ball when they get rocked like that and they get paid millions to do just that.
