the Penguins will open training camp on Saturday September 12th. the players will go through physicals and fitness tests and will take the ice for the first time on Sunday. they welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Mellon Arena for the first pre-season game on Sept 15 only 3 days into camp. the game was originally scheduled for Sept 25th but was moved up due to the city of Pittsburgh hosting the 2009 G20 Summit on Sept 24-25th. I will be at the game and would imagine that it will be pretty sloppy and a lot of the prospects will get some ice time since they will have already completed their camp which starts this Saturday.
