Pete Rose game used is hot!?!?

I thought this was a huge selling price. Does all Pete Rose game used do this good?

That was the highest ever for that card but it is an awesome card for 1 and rare sportking on top of that here what I've tracked on that card since 07

Think just because could be the last one on the open market in a long time seems to have gotten a few rose collectors crazy.

To my knowledge, Sportkings was the first company to go out on a limb and include Pete Rose in their product after all those years of being banned from baseball. This card was inserted in their 2007 release of Sportkings Series A and is his first known memorabilia bat card. Since there are only 10 copies, it's pretty sought after. Following in the footsteps of Sportkings' success, other companies like Donruss and upper deck quickly started inserting Pete Rose in their products.

I have to admit I was shocked to see it go that high, but wouldn't have been surprised had it topped $500.

Other HOF-level player barrels routinely go for that amount. For a guy like Rose, the little matters of his banning and the unlicensed nature of Sport Kings is little deterrence to having a nice barrel slice go for that. If one with his name or sig comes up, it'd probably go for twice as much.

Someone, I think perhaps Raymond, bought one with his name some time ago. It went for significantly less, but doubtless because the photo of the card was horrible, allowing one to just barely make out his name on the barrel.

I agree completely.

I'd like to point out that I don't think any card manufacturer with a MLB license can produce Pete Rose cards. Therefore if you want modern day Pete Rose cards, you have to buy unlicensed products. And with that being said and the prices his cards bring, it's just further proof that licensing is becoming less and less important.

You are correct in that any company with a MLB license cannot use Pete Rose in their sets because of his banishment from baseball.
