Why wouldn't he get the win :?:
Hughes was taken out after the sixth with the score tied 0-0.
The Yankees scored their 10 runs in the 7th inning.

Ohhhh

I just saw the score and usually when you see 10 runs score you don't think that they all come in the same inning lol!

But since the Yankees scored in the top of the 7th, and Melancon hadn't pitched yet, I think Hughes will still get the win.

I watched this game pitch for pitch. The ump is not a pitchers ump at all. Phil was ripping cutters right over the plate that were not getting called. Phil kept his cool and did a good job. There is no denying his stuff. If he is healthy he should be very productive.

Melancon with a 1-2-3, too.

A good night for young Yankees pitching.

Jackson looked good, too, but the Yankees are (finally) getting back to their patient ways that they had with Abreu and Giambi. Jackson WAS at 116, even though he only let up 4 hits and a walk. A lot of 3 ball counts.

Excellent points Pills :geek: Yankees got rid of Jackson because of the pitch counts and they pretty much feast on Tiger Reliever.

Cano had 11 and 10 pitch at bats, you can thank him as much as anyone for running it up on Edwin.

Rays are looking like they gave up ALOT for Matt Joyce.

Edwin is a different pitcher. Just so much better than previous years. Much more control, not walking people, getting more swings and misses, keeping his cool. He needs to keep this up for the whole year, but right now he looks great.
