Just got home from the Phillies 25th annual ALS charity event. It was the first time we went since 2002. We stopped because there really wasn't anybody worth getting and we started to figure out better ways to get autographs. Since we are going for a team signed World Series ball and single balls from each player we decided to go.

We got there at 2:30 and there were about 600 people in two separate lines to exchange tickets. The ticket exchanged didn't begin till 4:30. Supposedly people started lining up at 10 AM. ::facepalm:: So, we couldn't get Utley or Hamels. Howard wasn't there since he is sick. Instead we ended up getting Matt Stairs, Pedro Feliz, Scott Eyre, Eric Bruntlet and Chris Coste. All were great, Stairs and Eyre walked up the steps and stopped half way and took a seat to catch there breath.

The real highlight came from the grab bags(Pretty nice bags that people reuse for years). For 20 dollars you get a bag filled with random stuff(Signed balls, giveaways, etc.). We got them from Jen Utley and Chad Durbins wife. Hedi(sp) Hamels was there as well.

Here were the pulls

Miguel Cario signed ball
Jack Taschner signed ball
Jamie Moyer signed ball :)
Jayson Stark signed book :?

What we thought were the two worst bags turned out to be the best. They both contained a Chase Utley helmet that was a give away earlier in the year and a Phillies Phanatic bobble head that we have never seen before. Here's what it looks like,

The last one sold for $182.50.

Overall it was a fun night and was for a great cause. The Phillies have raised 10.1 million over the years. From reading some info they are close to finding a cure. I would love to see one.

Glad you went to supprt the ALS foundation..

ALS is one of the 42 flavors of Muscular Dystrophy.. My wife has Limb-Girdal Muscular Dystrophy, so I know how much this type of help is needed for research..

Jamie Moyer has always been a class act and always has time for families..

Sounds like you had a great time..

I do really like the charity. There are a lot of great charities but some goals seem a lot more unreachable. It seems like the money from this could very well help find some sort of cure. They just said on the local news that they set a record of over $800,000 this year, which has put them at 11 million total.

Jamie Moyer is a great guy. I actually have yet to personally meet him, but he does so much for the community that you have to like the guy. I really hope he becomes a coach here.

Jeff- I'll have to think about it. I might read it first(the auto isn't great either).

Nice stuff, I'm real bummed that I missed it as I had a baseball game and camp but sounds like it was crowded and will be for awhile.
