The Giants are star struck over the Philly pitching staff. I heard Cody Ross wanted Cole's autograph after the game.

Why are you stuck on Smiles Ross? Still sad about how he made Halladay look silly in "Doc"-tober?

I've always enjoyed Tony Bruno but was realy shocked he'd do that. That's why you don't e-mail, text, or in this case, twitter until you've taken time to settle down.

I was spending time with family in from Jersey/PA thsi weekend as we were throwing a 75th bash for my dad. So, my brother had a ton of Phillies fans in his home that night when the brawl occurred. I'l sy this about SF...they were the one team in baseball I thought could beat the Phils last year as they were making their stretch run to the playoffs, and when they got in I told my buddies the only AL or NL team I wanted the Phils to avoid was SF with that staff. And I feel the same way again this year. Begrudging respect for that club and how they have been getting so much out of (in my opinion) far less talent top-to-bottom than other teams, esp offensively.

The brawl was a stupid move that I would not have expected because there is no reason to give the Phillies any reason to think they are frustrating that club. But the thing that really pissed me off was Bochy's comments, that it's just baseball and a part of the game. Funny, I thought catchers blocking the plate getting bowled over was also a part of the game as well but apparently that is frowned upon by SF management, while throwing at players and triggering a brawl while you're getting your ass handed to you is just part of the game. More guys are at risk than just one catcher when nearly 50 players converge on the field and players are grappling and shoving en masse.

I still have a ton of respect for that Giants team and still want nothing to do with them in the post-season...so I'm happy that finally the Phils have overcome some recent frustrations and take it to them a bit. Shold they meet again in October I would hope that would help with the confidence level in that clubhouse.

Larry Kruger was fired from SF's KNBR for making similar comments on air several years ago. He referred to the giants offense as 'a bunch of brain dead carribeans swinging at slop'

Phillies take the lead. Have they been behind yet this series?

You know your offense is struggling when you bunt with the bases loaded twice.

Both of the Giants-Phillies series have been good. The Phillies really beat up on Zito, Sanchez, the two starters who won't be seeing the light of day in the playoffs. Against the Giants #1-4 starters, put up run totals of 1, 2, 3, 1, 1. Should be a good series if these two teams meet in the playoffs. Hopefully, the Giants offense will come to play then.

This is the most intelligent post of this entire thread... thanked.

Great end to the series for the Giants, finally got some hits with runners in scoring position. If these two teams meet in the playoffs the Phillies are going to need more production from Howard, 1 for 12 with 8K's, ouch. Hopefully Beltran is too hurt and can get back on the field soon.

If you didnt notice Howard isnt the entire team> Even with him having a bad series Phillies still took 3 out of 4 from you guys. So even with Howard doing bad our team can still play great ball.
