Hey guys. I am heading up to Philly for the weekend series against the Rockies September 7-9.

Are there any good card shops close by? Although I will have a car, I have never been there before so getting around might be a problem.

It will be my 22nd ballpark to visit. I am looking forward to it.

P.S. Would it be smart to wear my Cowboys Jason Witten jersey around town? Nah...I like living...

Been living in the philly area my whole life... honestly there are 0 shops in the actual city. If you branch outside by 20-30 miles you will find 3-4 shops. None of which are honestly worth going to at all.

There are a few listed online for philly but most have closed.

At the shops outside of the city.... you will see overpriced wax (25-50% over internet prices), terrible singles selection (cards that have sat in showcases so long they have faded autos and dust on the toploaders) and extremely sparse hours (open sometimes only a couple hours a day)....

Been doing this card thing down here over 15 years and the shops and most of the shows aren't worth your time.

The only shop that was 100% worth it, near the airport in Ridley Park closed a little over a year ago.

Sorry to burst your bubble... maybe you will be down during the weekend of the PhillyShow.org?

Actually, there is 1 card shop left in the city. It is Garden of Earthly Delights at 7907 Bustleton Avenue. The shop is on Bustleton Avenue just north of Borbeck Avenue. The place is closed on Sunday. If Chuck, the owner, is there let me know that Kevin sent you. You can PM me if you need more details. Hell, you may run into me there if you go on a saturday.

Eamon, are you referring to Clubhouse Collectibles in Ridley? If so, I used to be a regular there.

There's actually a Phillies champs show at Granite Run Mall that weekend, with a bunch of guys signing and some Dealers. It's about 1/2 hour west of Philly but probably worth it. My buddy has a store there but another signings company is running it...

Our next big event is September 7-September 9th, 2012---1980 and 2008 Phillies including Geoff Jenkins, Brad Lidge, Garry Maddox, Warren Brusstar, Roly DeArmas, Greg Gross, current Phillies reliever Jeremy Horst---13 signers in all---with 35 dealer tables selling sports cards, memorabilia, supplies and MacFarlanes mallwide....for a list of all the signers and times go to www.poppel.com

There are quite a few shops in South Jersey (less than 1/2 hour from the stadium). One being a great shop in Marlton on Evesham Road called Evan's Sports Cards. His boxes are ebay prices for the most part with singles and different boxes of autos/GU, etc that he has that you have to ask to see. He has a trade day once a month as well.
